Check your transmission fluid. If it is bright almost pinkish-red then it is not the transmission. If it is dark red or brown then you need to either get a flush done or replace your transmission depending on the severity.

SOURCE: 1996 saturn sl1 transmission slips in 3 and 4 gears.

The fluid and speed sensor did not really do anything to solve your slipping problem. If it slipped before it could be that there are chips/breaks in the teeth on the gears or it could be that the clutch is not connecting when it gets into higher gears. May need a new tranny or clutch.

SOURCE: 2002 Saturn SL1 - Losing reverse and second gear

The simple answer is that there are two loose nuts in the transmission.

The output shaft nuts are loose. The are behind a cover that you can see through the driver's side wheel well.

My 96 Saturn Sl1 slips from 5th gear to 3rd. Does this mean transmission is out? After adding transaxcle fluid my car doesnt want to move.

Did you check the fluid level while the car was running? You really don't want to over fill the trans with ATF.

Why saturn sl1 sedan auto trans, kicks?

Saturns with higher mileage have a tendency to have a bad valve body in the trans.Start by replacing the trans.fluid filter and trans fluidThe drain plug is underneith and the filter is on the front of the trans.

1998 chevy 1500 auto trans noticed a grinding noise seemed like it was coming from rear differential pulled the cover everything looked good next day starts to slip really bad, park it over night ......

If its a whining type noise when cold, the trans filter may be plugged. replace the filter ans examine the bottom of the pan, if it has a lot of debris in the pan, and the filter is plugged, replacing the filter will help, but you will need trans work in the future.

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo hesitates in 2nd gear when cold

Is it manual or auto trans? If manual the gear lube is thicker when cold and the syncronizers tend to stick and not slide free for grind free shifting or for locking into gear.
If Auto trans if the jeep is warmed up setting then cycle the gears before driving. If that helps then the fluid is not getting through the valve body properly. It could be metal in the body or filter or cold seals are letting fluid by til the seals warm, expand and hold pressure. I'm assuming trans fluid is good, not old. One item that can lead to poor cold shift in an auto trans is a bad torque convertor. Since it seems to be a second gear issue the second section of the trans could have a bad seal. In an auto trans I'd take to a shop and have a cold pressure test done. They will tell which one is the problem.

Trans. problem

3speed or 4 speed? does it slip or just not shift. Might be old seals or a bad governor. Try using lubegard trans additive. Try that for a week if it doesn't work, replace the governor valve.
