When I turn the key, I hear a clicking sound from the solenoid but that's it. Nothing from the starter or not even a dragging start. Car was driving fine all the time. What could be the problem?
SOURCE: turn the ignition key and nothing happens. turn it
when it won't start, use a test light on the solenoid wire (the small gauge wire) in the start position, you should have voltage. Also check your shift linkage to make sure the shift cable isn't keeping it from going into park position. try it in neutral position as well... that's a clue to a trans selector switch

check the main wire from the battery to the starter 1st if it is ok remove the starter and take it to any major parts store and them retest it on a bench machine (they do it free)

Coming from a Toyota tech, it sounds like the starter contacts are worn and time for a starter rebuild. parts are only available from toyota and and not expensive, and labour should be 1.5 hours.

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function
