Headlamp issue, on driver side (rh drive) the headlamps are very dim, but still getting power... I replaced the bulbs, and still no luck... i swapped the relays between the lh and rh side, and still the same issue... I had a look at the fuses on the relay block, and they seem to be fine. any other ideas?

SOURCE: headlamp problem

This can be a tough one.See the headlamps are controlled by the smart-junction box. Power to the headlamps are send from the smart-junction box to the headlamps than back to the bussed electrical center(under hood fuse panel.
Now what exactly is effected by this low beam or high beam or both?
If it is both then your problem is most likely at the bussed electrical center. It provides the ground to the bulbs and both high and low beam share the same ground. If this is the case you should be able to check for power at the bulb and if you have it there then jumper you a ground to the BK wire on the bulb and see if it lights up. If this is the case then go to the battery junction box and disconnect the last connector closest to the firewall and clean it with electrical cleaner and blow dry it,make sure it is good and dry before hooking back up.
If you do not have power to the bulb then your concern is at the smart junction box and it would not be wise to mess with it. See it is a programable module and it also controls pats system so if you disconnect it well you may be stranded and will have to have it towed to the dealer to clear pats or reprogram it.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2006 Nissan Altima LH driver

you will find another fuse block under hood near windshield washer fill neck.remove the cover and it will show the location of headlamp fuses.most likely is a blown fuse.

Testimonial: "Thanks...I was looking inside the cover for a diagram, only to notice it was on the outside of the cover after removing the dirt. Fuse was bad."

Why is my Passenger headlamp dim. No other lights affected on right side.

The passenger side is grounding threw the drivers side. When you pull the drivers side light the other looses it ground. It is actually grounded threw the bulb. The reason it is dim. It could be the plug. Find the ground and run a new one to the bulb from the body.

Low beams dont work and only one high beam works

Do you know how to do voltage drop testing ? Leave the blubs in there sockets turn the low beams on , measure voltage on the power side , LH low beam yellow with black stripe an for the RH low beam dark blue wire . If you have battery voltage there, power side is good . Then check ground side both are yellow wires , test with lights on . if you see 6 volts , 12 volts .anything more then .03 millivolts you have a ground side problem . The lights ground through the light switch .
Low Beam
Voltage to the headlamp switch is available at all times from the HDLP SW fuse 7 through CKT 1940 (ORN). When the headlamp switch is turned to the HDLP position, the headlamp power relay coil is energized through CKT 352 (WHT). A signal is also sent to the body control module (BCM) that the headlamp switch is ON. When the headlamp switch is in the AUTO or PARK position, the ambient light sensor (located in the right speaker grill) senses either daylight or darkness and sends the signal to the BCM. When the Ambient Light Sensor detects a dark condition, the BCM produces a signal that will energize the headlamp power relay through CKT 352. The relay coil is grounded through terminal F7 connector 2 of the underhood fuse block to CKT 350 (BLK) to G102. When the headlamp power relay is energized the relay supplies power to the LT HDLP and RT HDLP fuses. The RH low beam headlamp receives current through CKT 198 (DK BLU) from the RT HDLP fuse. The LH low beam headlamp receives current through CKT 712 (YEL/BLK) from the LT HDLP fuse. Both headlamp low beam bulbs are grounded by CKT 524 (PPL) through the underhood fuse block to the multifunction switch (low position) contacts through CKT 10 (YEL) to the headlamp grounding relay in the body relay block through the normally closed contacts to CKT 1850 (BLK) to G200.

Driver's side headlamp is dim compared to passenger side headlamp

Check the earth wire on the dim headlight, it has probably come adrift and the one bulb is trying to find an earth through the other bulb, causing them to operate in series at half voltage each.

Driver side headlight went out, only on dim, high beam works. I replaced the bulb but that is not the problem. doesn't seem to be the fuse, either. What could be the problem?

I am assuming from your description that the low beam operates but is very dim? The headlamp driver / relays are located in the fuse block under the hood. The most likely cause would be excessive resistance (corrosion) on the driver for the left headlamp. A simple continuity test could verify this with a volt/ohm meter. Check from correct cavity in fuse block to headlamp, resistance should be less than 0.5 ohms

I have changed bulb on driver's headlight but dim still will not work. This is 2005 nissan altima

It can be one of the following;

The headlamp relays located under the hood and clearly marked(there is one for the right headlamp and one for the left headlamp - swap them and see if the problem goes to the other side. If not - then it is the dimmer switch itself.

Take Care.

Headlamp loose on drivers side. seems to go in and out when driving. the light still works but is very dim. Have plugged the wires in, but they loosen right away. Is it the headlamp bulb or assembly. This...

If it is the light bulb, meaning the replaceable glass bulb that gets plugged by the wire connector, the clip may not be properly seated on the housing of the bulb. Take the time to match up the tangs of the bulb housing to the hole it plugs in to.

One headlight bright, the other dim

For some reason, Toyota chooses to wire their headlamps differently than domestic cars, with dual fuses for the headlamps, and a common ground for each headlamp...The reason that the lamp was dim is the bulb was getting power thru a "backfeed" condition, due to the poor ground. The fuse may have blown due to the poor ground, also.
