Ran out of gas the other day on a trip. got some fuel in the car a few minutes later, but now it wont start. it turned over and ran for a few second after i put some gas in, but then shut off. now it wont turn over at all.
It is very bad to let your car run out of gas. You may need to give it exessive amount of gas when starting it.
Car
not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

i do hear it turning over, but it won't start or run. it started and ran after i put about a gallon of gas in, but shut off a few seconds later. i put more gas in, but now it won't start at all. it is turning over though.
You will need to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. When the tank goes dry, the pump overheats and gets damaged when it is trying to pump air.
"It won't turn over at all" means you hear nothing when you turn the key. Is this the case, or do you hear it turning over but just not starting and running?
