My ford Focus 2003 ZX3 manual transmission is having problems with the clutch. First, the clutch pedal start to perform intermittently soft and to normal for two days. After that the pedal was soft and getting some normal performance at the end, close to the floor of the car. Now is totally soft and imposible to engage a gear. I checked the master cylinder under the dash board and the lines and connections in the engine compartment and I do not see any leaks. The car is not leaking any fluid on the floor of my garage. The first day the pedal get totally soft I check the brake fluid level and was very low so I refilled this reservoir and today still at the right level. That day I ask to my wife to pump the clutch pedal several time with the reservoir cap open and I did not see any action inside this reservoir when she was pumping the pedal, I mean the fluid was quiet without any movement. My questions are: - How to know what part of the clutch system is broken? -How to know if the bad part is the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder? - What test I can do in order to know if I need to replace one or the other? Please guys I need some help with it. Thank you very much in advance. Norbert.

I have an update with my car clutch situation: I just pump the clutch pedal very fast, more than 30 times in few seconds and the clutch start to perform "normally" I mean no more soft clutch and is engaging all the gears. I am going to drive the car around the block and see how it goes.
Please guys, I need some advice here!. Thank you.

We're is the speed input circuit at o a 2003 ford focus 2.3 liter zx3

The speed input circuit in a 2003 Ford Focus 2.3 liter ZX3 is typically located in the Engine Control Module (ECM) or the instrument cluster. The speed input circuit is responsible for providing the ECM with the speed of the vehicle, which is used to control various systems such as the fuel injection and transmission shift points.
In some cases, the speed input signal may come from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), which is typically located on the transaxle or the differential. This sensor detects the rotational speed of the drive shaft and converts it into an electrical signal that is sent to the ECM or the instrument cluster.
If you're experiencing issues with the speed input circuit, you may need to have the system inspected and repaired by a qualified technician. They can perform tests to determine the cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs to restore proper operation.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus lx and the clutch pedal has no resistance on it and it will not go into gear. Please help I need this car to get to work

Check the clutch fluid level. It will be a small reservoir close to the brake master cylinder. If the clutch reservoir is empty, add fluid.( brake fluid ) You may have to perform a bleed procedure at the clutch slave cylinder attached to the transmission Pump the clutch pedal several times and have someone open the bleeder screw until fluid comes out and the clutch pedal has its resistance back

01 focus zx3 overheating and clutch problems

I'm not sure but I believe the clutch pedal has a cable adjustment . usually its two nuts one on top of the other, hold one and turn the other until desire pedal is achieved.
However ,if its a hydralic clutch I'll let the shop manual give you the bad news. Your gonna need the Shop Manual any way because it will tell you how to adjust "pedal free play" which is what your describing.

First check that both fans WORK.How? Fabricate two jumper wires and remove the connectors from the fan(s)
one at a time and jump them from the battery one at a time. If they work ok if not replace the one that doesn't work.
Next find the coolant temperature sensor check it for resistance , wiring ,and to see if its signal is making it to the ECU. Then check if the ECU is telling the relays to turn on the appropriate fan. Remember one fan is for engine cooling the other is for the condenser of the a/c system. If you turn on a/c it should work.
Use shop manual for more detail testing and specs. I'll help you any way I can. Good luck
