I own a Nissan Quest 2004 model. It has been doing Hard Start for sometime now{6 months}. Only recently it refused to start. The engine just keep rolling but it wont start. I was advised to change the fuel pump and some sensor which i did. Yet the car refused to start. What may be the problem please? Olabode

SOURCE: service engine soon, TCS off, SLIP

The oil change wouldn't cause this problem. Just in-case, check the engine oil level.

There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON. Best way to find out what's going on is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means. Most auto-part store will do this for free.

Testimonial: "very helpful. i have the mechanic checked the car , the sensor says it has a malfunction in P0340"

I have a leak -looks like transmission fluid- can't find where it is coming from. 2004 nissan quest

put a clean cardboard sheet under the vehicle and keep an eye out for where the leak falls from.. follow up from that spot until you see the fluid itself..sometimes its hard to see but if you use a strong flashlight you may see better..it will look brownish or brownish-red in color..if its black then its motor oil...if its clearer then it may be brake fluid or power steering..

is the check engine light on? o2 sensors will set an engine code as well as set for lean or rich conditions. being a 2004 model if it is an engine misfire condition this also should set an engine code. most likely with the symptoms you have you have a plug wire getting a bad spot in it. as the engine gets hot the plug wire will cause an engine misfire.

My 2007 nissan quest stopped running while driving down the road and refuses to start now. It popped a bad cam sensor code so I changed both of them and the crank sensor. When I try to start it it cranks...

In the Nissan Quest, 1993-02, the cam sensor is in the distributor and replacing the distributor fixes it. Usually the engine runs when cold, then fails when it is hot. Not usre where it is on the 2007 Quest.

Rich Porter sells reman distributors on ebay for $200.

We talk about it on our website for Villager Quest owners.

Where is the camshaft positioning sensor located in the 2004 nissan quest

Your 2004 Nissan Quest is most likely to be equipped with a 3.5L V-6 engine. This engine has 2 Cam (PHASE) sensors. One is located in the back of each cylinder head. You must remove your intake air duct to see them.
