Dont know were to put in new transmission oil on a 1992 Jeep Wrangler

gear oil filler is usually under the car on the transmission itself. the lowest screw or hole must be the drain plug/screw. you have to drain the old oil first, close the drain then pour in the new transmission oil.

read the owner's manual for fluid capacities.

sounds like a head gasket problem....is your anti-freeze reservoir pressuring up as well?

Transmission generally takes a bit less than two quarts, Use 75/90 gear lube in that (in very cold climates you can add a small amount of automatic trans fluid to keep it flowing on cold starts) Transfer case takes a bit over one quart and takes dextron mercon 3. When filling either, fluid is full when on a level surface it begins to come out of the fill hole while filling. When changing either, always make sure you can open the fill plug before draining so you know you can replace what you removed.

the problem with the leak is the rear main seal on the engine is blown and should be replaced and you can pick one of these up at any auto parts store

i have a 1988 jeep wrangler 6cyl with 5 speed transmission. I was shifting the jeep and it got stuck in third gear. We opened it up and saw that the linkage is aligned and everything is in place. I dont know what is wrong and what to do next. please help ....

Let it sit for awhile because it takes cold oil a while to leak down to fill everything. Did you get 3.5 quarts of oil out when you drained? Just add as much as you can, wait awhile, check your dipstick, and add more until you can get it all in the fill hole. With a cold engine and cold oil, it takes a little while.

the transmission filler plug is located on the side of the transmission itself,must be done from under neath.suggest you use a suction type gun to get the fluid out of the bottle and into the transmission, if you need further help just get back to me.please rate my fix as i strive for the best. did you put transmission fluid back in the trans?

i had to replace mine i cant remember what goes before the number but the number was sixy. it came in a blue bottle. if you have your owners manual it should tell you. just be careful you dont put the wrong kind in it cuz i can burn it up.
