I'm helping a friend with her 2000 Grand Cherokee. The engine fan won't come on. The fan works when jumped to the battery. The 40 amp "fuse" in the fuse box is good. There is power at the fuse box. I'm assuming a sensor or relay is bad. Where are these located?
The radiator fan relay is located behind and slightly lower than the r/f headlamp.best way to get to this is by removing right side of front fascia out enough to get behind it. this will give you acsess to the relay.i work at a jeep dealer and have done this many times.
It's usually an issue with the relay which can be found one of two ways. You can either remove the front grille, bumper cover and support brackets under the cover, or you can remove the right headlamp assembly and smack a hole in the plastic underneath it with the ball side of a ball peen hammer. I start right in the middle of where the headlamp used to be and peek around to get a more accurate idea of where it is. Then I smack another hole directly above it and unbolt it from the frame. When you put the headlamp back in, it will cover the holes you just created as long as you don't get too hammer happy.

Thanks for the info. Is there an easy way to test this relay and make for sure it's the problem?
