2003 BMW 325i will start but making noise

I have a 2003 BMW 325i. The vehicle starts but as I drive the engine makes a loud noise when turning the steering wheel to the left or the right. I can start the vehicle and turn the wheel from side to side and it makes this awful noise.

I checked the level of the power steering fluid and it is full.

When moving the steering wheel side to side while stationary the noise is present. Also I smell fumes when I start the vehicle.

Thanks for your assistance. The mechanic picked up my car today and the power steering pump had to be replaced. Good job!

It might be a faulty power steering pump. Try checking the level of the power steering fluid. It is probably best you have your power steering system checked by a mechanic.

Does the noise occur only when the vehicle is moving?

Try moving the steering wheel from side to side, while stationary (but don't do it too often, or you might damage something). If the noise is still present when the car is stationary, then it probably is the power steering system.

If the noise only occurs while the vehicle is moving, it could be a problem with the differential/final drive, or even wheel bearings.

The fumes that you smell could be due to a small amount of power steering fluid leaking onto a hot component, such as the exhaust.

Although the fluid level may appear to be okay, it is still possible that there is a fault with the hydraulic system.

A large enough build up of transmission/power steering fluid can cause a fire.

You should go and have your car examined by a mechanic.

How do you reset the antitheft system in a 2003 BMW 325I I have literally no power at all not whatsoever

No lights, nothing? Not anti-theft, that only stops you starting the engine. Check the big fuse on the battery.

Could be battery be flat?

Ultimately, it is a BMW, so you will probably have to get the dealership to tow it, unless it is a simple flat battery. So many FUSES!

My 2008 BMW 535i makes loud noise when I start the car in the morning. Someone told me that is the way it is. Is that true?

Could you give me a more detailed description of what kind of noise it is? Is it a bang like a gun? A thump or 'clonk'? Or a machine gun like rattle? Is it as you turn the key or after the car has started? These details can help work out where the problem is.

The belt that broke is the alternator drive belt,it also drives the water pump& the power steering pump which is why the engine overheated &steering went heavy.Hope this helps.

2003 bmw 325i makes buzzin noise after driving for half an hour on a warm weather

If this is after you stopped the engine , is is possible the Cooling Fan is still powered for a short time to cool the system even after you left the car.
In some rare occasions ( VW vr6 p.e.) there is also an electrical water-pump to keep the cooling going after stopping the engine.

WHAT DOES EML LIGHT MEAN ON THE DASH OF MY 2003 BMW 325I?

The "EML" warning light in a BMW indicates a problem with the "drive by wire" throttle control system."

"EML" is an acronym for "Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung". Loosely translated from the original German for the BMW owner means Electrionic Engine Power Control.

"EML" is BMW's system name for electronic throttle management. The "EML" system, in it's most basic sense consists of an accelerator pedal (with an electronic position sensor), a computer module (usu. integrated with the main engine computer), and an EDK (Elektronische Drosselklappe or Electronic throttle valve). The EDK is also known as a "drive by wire" throttle. "EDK" throttles use a computer controlled stepper motor rather than a purely mechanical linkage (usu. metal cable attached directly to the accelerator pedal) to control the opening and closing of the throttle plate.

"Drive by wire" throttles are very common on modern vehicles starting in the late nineties up through the present day. "Drive by wire" technology enables very precise throttle control to improve drivability and vehicle emissions, as well as many convenience features like electronic cruise control, traction control & stability control.

BMW first implemented "drive by wire" in very limited quantities on the most expensive & sophistocated BMW models starting in 1988.

The latest generation of advanced vehicle features to take advandage of "drive by wire" technology are radar guided cruise control, accident avoidance control, autonomous-driving, and autonomous-parking systems.

Car wont start?

May sound stupid, but use a voltmeter to double check your batteries' charge.

Just cause its new..stranger things have happened..

Check your battery connections? tight?

Check your grounds around the engine compartment frame.

Loose? Rusty?

Check starter ground for same problem.

Check the fuses and relays in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Your main heavy duty components are fused there.

Good luck.

Loud buzzing noise

From the sounds of it, it's simply your air ride's compressor. If you're not aware that your vehicle has air ride suspension, read up on the user's manual or look on the web. When you start your vehicle and shift into drive or reverse, your compressor should start (assuming no doors are ajar). The compressor than fills all four airbags in your vehicle to a factory-set height. These airbags provide a softer ride than the conventional shock/strut system seen in less expensive SUV's and trucks but are also more prone to problems and damage down the line. You can isolate the compressor as the sound by going to your truck, removing the left hand side panel and switching your air ride off. Your car's compressor then should not kick in at all. However, you should not operate your vehicle with this switch turned off. You should only use it as a diagnostic reference or anytime your car is towed, hoisted, or jacked up. Hope this helps.
