We have an 03 TrlBlazer- just bought 2 weeks ago and were only given 1 key. We had keys made last weekend, have worked great all week, noproblems at all, always started. We drove around all day yesterday with the new key- no issues, went to leave last night and put key in and turned and the engine wouldnt turn over, at that time we still had radio, lights etc. Tried it again and still engine wouldnt turn over and then key was stuck in ignition. Finally got key out, tried the key that came with the car and still nothing. By then we had NO power, no radio, lights- nothing. We took out fuses, unhooked battery and hooked back up, light book says- still nothing. Jumped it- and after about 40 mins it started, turned it off and it wouldnt start again. Jumped it again and after about 15 mins it started again- but everytime turn off it wont start. Has been hooked up to battery charger for about 18 hrs and still wont start- what can we do? We called our local GMC dealer/service center and were told too bad so sad, service is closed til Monday- I need to go to work Monday!
Sounds like an antitheft problem I would start with the antitheft system. Usually when you only have one key all keys have to be programmed together even the original. When you have more than one it is easy to program additional keys.

We do think it is the anti-theft system. We were told by the dealer and the key maker that our key didnt have a chip in it. I dont get why the key would work for a week- and 6 times of starting in 1 day with the newly made key. If it was a bad key, why did it work for a week?
The manual says if you try a wrong or bad key 3x it shuts down power and fuel system and to call your dealer. Well- our dealer didnt want to deal with it yesyerday as it was closing time, said to call back today, called back today and was told they are closed til Monday! I have to go to work Monday.
I guess the thing Im most ticked about is that have only had this vehicle for a little over 2 weeks! We specifically asked how we get another key and they said it didnt have the chip so didnt need to be programmed to car- which i thought was a bit suspicious when they said it!
Ended up being the battery- weird. Like I said above, we jumped it and it woudl start but after being turned off it wouldnt restart. We hooked up to a battery charger overnight and still wouldnt start the next morning.
We had a friend comeover who is a mechanic- he hooked up his battery reader to battery and it read 2.9. So they unhooked the battery (which we had previously done 2x), were gonna go buy a new one, they tested battery while on floor in garage and it read 14.0- put back in car and it started back up.
He said that the side mount batteries have issues like this occasionally- thinks that it just drained the battery too much ????
I have read other posts on this and other sites and it seems this is a common problem in this car- with the dealer issued key or not. It will get the key stuck in ignition and then shut everything down- some people say to let sit 1/2 hr and is fine, others say have had to buy new battery, others say is a ignition solenoid problem that causes it to fail.
I dont know- its working now, so who knows!
