SOURCE: Oil pressure gauge reads 0, until you accellarate.

This really sounds like your oil pressure sending unit. You don't say what engine you have but check your oil make sure its full and clear you don't want to loose the engine over this and you should n't but check it.The unit threads into the block some are in the back behind the distubtor some are low on the side in the front but they all thread into the block somewere And usely you need a speical scocket to remove it but there pretty standard one socket fits all of them Check at hte auto parts store when they pull it up on the computer ask to look at the screen and it will show you exactly where yours is good luck

Not necessarily. There was a re-call on the cooling system a few years ago. Check with your mechanic about that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You probably need to bleed the cooling system properly.

Open the cooling system bleeder screws.

Slowly fill the cooling system with a 50/50 coolant mixture until coolant runs freely out of bleeder screws.
Close the cooling system bleeder screws
Install the coolant pressure cap
Start the engine.
Run the engine at 2,000 - 2,500 RPM until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. (midway on gauge)
Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes.
Shut the engine off.
Allow the engine to completely cool.
Top off the coolant as necessary.
Run engine again at 2000 - 2500 RPM until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
Allow engine to idle until cooling fans come on. It should come on with the gauge about 3/4 of the way to red. - if it gets to where is touches the red, shut down immediately.
When the fan comes on, put your hand behind the fan and observe the temperature of the air coming from the fan. It should feel hot. If it is blowing cold air, the coolant is not circulating through the radiator like it should. This could be caused by lots of things including an improper/defective thermostat, corroded water pump impeller, or a blown head gasket.

Try replacing your Engine Coolant Temp Sensor, it's cheap and easy to replace. Just remember do it when the coolant is cool to work with before you start cracking a pressurized system.

My 1994 volkswagen golf has a problem with the cooling fan, it keeps running even after the car is shut off. How do i fix that?

It may be running because the engine hasn't cooled down. These fans will run until the engine reaches a specific cool temp. But if it's not running hotter than normal temp, it's within the temp switch, which reads the temp of the engine, or the relay could be bad and not know when to shut down. While you're driving look to see what the temp gauge is reading. This will lead you in different direction for the temp. switch.

98 honda shutts off and will not start until cooled off

you say the engine shuts down when it gets hot if it runs rough before doing so it could be the coolant temperature sensor allowing the engine to  overfuel  if the engine cuts out in a couple of seconds but sounds smooth it could be the fuel pump , if it cuts out instantly its electrical.
