Do someone know why 2004 Honda accord v6 models have timing belt instead of timing chain as available on its 4-cylinder model?
2003 and up Honda Accord with 4 cylinder engines do indeed have a chain and the V6 has a belt which must be replaced at 110,000 miles. Why? Ask Honda, they designed the engines.

The Honda V6 J Series engine is indeed a timing belt. From1998 to Present the engine has a timing belt, not a chain. The reason behind this is the fact that it takes less energy to spin a lighter object than a heavier one. The chain weighs more than a belt, hence better acceleration and response with a belt. They do need to be changed at 110K miles, but Honda recommends 80K miles under severe driving conditions. Shold be belt. Have not seen a chain design for 15 years come out. Unless you are talking old models produced in far countries.
