Question about 1992 Saturn SL
I have a 92' saturn sl1. The car started oiut fine, but then died once, at a red light. After that, the RPm shot up to 3 when in park. The car started dying soon after. It seems to drive fine, but when the car heats up a little and runs for awhile, if you take your foot off the accelorator (to break) when you go to accelorate again, the car dies almost immediatley after accelerating. The car won't restart unless it has had time too cool off. What could this be?
I had a similar problem with my 93 Saturn.I tracked it down to a bad Brake Power Booster. The car will idle at 3500 rpms. When I would step on the brakes.
Remove the vacuum line from your power booster and seal off the hose. Start the car and your rpms should drop down to normal. Now step on your brakes and see if that stopped the acceleration.
If so I would change the power booster. Not the most fun I ever had but It had to be done.
