SOURCE: fuel pump location 2001 pontiac grand am

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.Sit in the car.....turn on the ignition switch to run.....listen very closely to the rear of the car...or have someone kneel down by the back wheel.....you should hear a "prime cycle"......the pump running for 2 or 3 seconds if the key was off for 15 seconds before trying this.If you hear silence you most likely need a fuel pump. Before pulling the tank down....check for power on the gray wire at the fuel tank connector just ahead of the rear axle under the car.Check for power with a test light that will last for 2 to 3 seconds as you turn on the key to run.Power means you really most likely need a pump.No power means you may need a fuse or a fuel pump relay.

SOURCE: 2002 pontiac grand am, new fuel pump and filter, wont start

Is the security light active? If yes it will have to get reprogrammed by the GM dealer as GM has this as a propriatory system... Meaning no one else can work on it.

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Sunfire ran out of gas now won't

The fuel in the fuel tank also cools the pump during operation. The pump could have heated up internally, causing it to fail. I would recommend checking the fuel pressure with a gauge and be sure the fuel system is pressurized and not low. A fuel pump can still run and be heard, but at the same time, it also may not provide enough critical pressure to the fuel rail and injectors.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana that ran out of gas, I put 2 gallons in it and now it won't start

Turn the key to run and listen to see if the electric fuel pump is running. If it is, allow it to run for 30 seconds before turning the key to start. This will allow the pump to push enough fuel to the fuel rail so the injectors have something to spray.

check to see if you can hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to the run position. It should run for about 5 seconds then shut off. If not then the fuel pump may have siezed due to the lack of fuel. Have someone slap on the fuel tank with an open hand while you turn the key to the run position. This may free up the fuel pump.

Try using some starting fluid in the intake pickup; continue spraying while someone starts the car. If the car starts up, the fuel pump has gone bad.

Our Montana ran out of gas yesterday and when we put gas in we tried to jump it and it wouldn't start, so we had it towed home. What can we do?

First thing is to replace the fuel filter. Now use starter fluid sprayed into the intake to get it started.
