Lock Cylinder Functional
Removal

  1. NOTE: The following procedure applies to vehicles that have functional ignition switch lock cylinders (11582), lock cylinder keys are available for these vehicles or the lock cylinder key numbers are known and the proper key can be made.

Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Turn ignition switch lock cylinder to RUN position.
  1. Place a 3.17 mm (1/8-inch) diameter wire pin or small drift punch in hole in lower steering column shroud (3530) under ignition switch (11572). Press retaining pin while pulling out on ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it from steering column lock cylinder housing (3511).
Installation
  1. Install ignition switch lock cylinder by turning it to RUN position. Insert ignition switch lock cylinder into steering column lock cylinder housing. Make sure ignition switch lock cylinder is fully seated and aligned in interlocking washer before turning ignition switch lock cylinder to OFF position. This will permit cylinder retaining pin to extend into steering column tube flange hole.
  1. Rotate ignition switch lock cylinder, using lock cylinder key, to ensure correct mechanical operation in all positions.
  1. Connect battery ground cable.

How do you change the ignition cylinder 2005 Suzuki Verona

It's actually a really simple fix. Remove the surround from the instument cluster, turn the key to the acc position, and there is a little recessed button on the top of the cylinder, push it in using a suitable tool and the whole cylinder will pull out. Then you pull a retaining clip off back of cylinder and remove old cylinder then install new ignition cylinder install retaining clip that buttton will pop in only when key is turned to accessory on new and old lock cylinders. you will have seperate key for ignition and doors now unless you go to locksmith and have the new cylinder rekeyed with old key. hope this helps ya out

Replacing ignition switch

The switch? Or the lock cylinder? If you have the old one out, turn the new lock cylinder to the on position ,line up the grooves on the cylinder with the grooves in the column and it should slide right in and click in. The switch just holds in with 2 Torx screws.you align the post sticking out of the bottom of the switch with the indentation in the steering column, tighten the screws and attach the plug to the switch.

I have a 98 Chevy Malibu Ls and the ignition won't

Inspect the old ignition cycle which is out.Is there any problem noticed of Ignition cylinder getting worn out.
Because when issue of ignition not turning off,its faulty ignition lock cylinder or faulty ignition switch.I suggest re-inspect the new ignition cylinder.

Replaced old ignition with new one and the new ignition won't lock in place

If the ignition wont lock in place, just redo it but this time you need to realize that you install the key cylinder with the key in the ON postion, straight into the lock cylinder housing, aligning the retaining tabs,on the key cylinder with the hole in the lock cylinder housing. Then turn the key to the off position,

Mercedes Benz c220 ignition will not turn.

Did you try jacking up the car at the front then wiggle the steering as you turn the key? Did you try a spare key? Spray inside the mechanism with WD40. Try putting the key in at different depths and turning.
The lock cylinder is a replace only item.

Cadillac seville won't start

I've got an even cheaper and easier solution, instead of buying a new cylinder, find that plug and snip the orange wires going to the old cylinder. Then remove the resistor chip from the key and solder each of the the wires to each side. this will fool the car into thinking the correct resistor chip is in place, allowing you to use the original key or any copies with or without resistor chips. i just did this to my caddy and it roared to life! :)
