Jesse, The module will not stop fluid to rear brakes, a bad master cylinder will,leaking lines, air in brake system, faulty metering block if equipped, collapsed flex lines or pinched brake line faulty caliper or brake cylinders,etc. will cause the possible feeling of no rear brakes.

When the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) light is on it means the systems control module has detected a failure and the ABS is disabled, this means you just have regular non ABS brakes. To find out what the fault is requires the ABS control module be scanned with a special tool to see what fault codes show up.

Its under the hood on the drivers side. If your looking for it because the ABS, Brake light are on and possibly the speedometer doesn't work then thats because the ABS module failed and codes will be stored in order to diagnose it. But if the ABS relay and the fuse are ok then usually this points to a failed ABS module. The ABS and parking brake lights kept coming on in my boyfriends 2001 Chevy s10. We took it to the Chevy dealer and they ran a diagnostic on it determining that the ABS module was shot (common problem for them mechanic said). The cost to have it fixed at the dealer was about $750. I found a place in Moscow Idaho that rebuilt the module for $130!!!! YAHOOO! You have to pay about $35 in shipping costs ($17 each way) but they returned it to us in 3 days.I was able to remove the module myself and didn't need to mess with the brake lines/fluid--it was simple and took about 10 minutes to remove it. It's guaranteed for 5 years and if we had the dealer replace it they would only guarantee it for 1 year. So go to the module master and save some cash!!!!

First thing ABS is the Anti Locking Brake system, this has nothing to do with pads or rotors.

The ABS consists of a control module, pump & sensors.
Without having a scan tool to check to see which code is set you can't fix it.
Anytime one of the components listed above fails or is having a problem that will send a signal to the EBTCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) which cause the ABS light to come on.
You can spend thousands of dollars replacing parts before you get it right, and the light would still be on because you need the scan tool to clear the light once the problem is fixed.
It would be best to find a trusted mechanic to scan the codes & diagnose the problem.

Wheel speed sensors misadjusted, damaged , or metal shavings and other debree, since they are magnetic can give false readings from one of the wheel circuits. Over sized tires can give of false speed readings as well. there are many other causes including bad relay, control module, e.t.c. It is best to have the proper scan tool to diagnose an ABS problem. There are many more reasons if the ABS pump continues to run it might have a leak, If it does not run could be a fuse or relay, stuck valve or debris pushed into the abs system when pushing the pistons in during a brake service.
