2005 Ford Focus ZX3 with automatic transmission. When at motion or from a stop, transmission will suddenly feel like it is in neutral. If you put shifter in P, shut off engine and restart, transmission will work normally. Any ideas?

your engine code means "big leak" in the evap control system, this system has alot of pieces, but you are looking for a vacuum leak most probably, look at your vacuum hoses, and refer to the vacuum diagram stuck under your hood for routing, see if you have a bad hose, or disconnected hose some where. these are small vacuum hoses that attach to the purge valve, air filter housing, and charcoal cannister. let me know what you find.
Testimonial: "Found the leak on the purge control valve. The hard plastic vacum line had holes worn in it from vibration. Thanks"

I have that exact same truck and transmission and My Transmission did the exact same thing about a year ago and there was some kind of snap ring inside the transmission that broke. I originally thought it had to be an electirical problem because the truck shifted fine until OD or if i turned OD off. The 4r70w is a light transmission and i would suggest you have a shift kit put in and they make a heavier kit to beef it up.. Sorry its probably not the new you were looking for.

I had the defective cooler replaced yesterday and the Ford service manager told me there is no pan or filter in the 2008 escape, only a screen.

on the bottom of the transmission pan you will find a nut with a hex or torx in the middle you remove the center plug when the truck is hot and running on a level serface the trans fluod will dribble out if it does not dribble out it is low if it runs out fast a steedy streem it is over full now their is a part that screws into this for a fill if you remove the pan you will see how it works the pan has a pipe/ stack that when full of fluid the top of the pipe is at the full point if you remove the large nut the stack and plug will come out the best way to change the trans fluid is take it to some place that has a fluid exchange equment this will get all the fluid out including the torque converter

Quick note - the solution to the transmission problem was the replacement of the out speed sensor located outside the transmission housing. $59 part solved my problem.
