Codes My dodge neon is posting a code of p o5 13 AND p 05 17 could someone please help me with this code. It will not start with new battery and wont take a boost.

Low voltage ,check battery and connection.

if you replace pcm the dealership has to reprogram new pcm , tcm and reprogram theft security system before car will start again.any time you replace pcm on any newer vechicles the odb 2 generation pcm control vechicles the new pcm, has to be reprogrammed.

• A check engine light means that an error code has been sent to the PCM. The light won't just go off. You have to fix the problem and then clear the codes. But first you have to have the codes read to know what to fix. You can go to any major parts store and have the codes read for free. Then you come post the code[s] here for me to see and then I can assist you from there. The code could be minor or major but you won't know until they are read.

First see what code is in the computer.Cycle the key three times and stop when it in the run position. The check engine light will start blinking. The first code should blink once then pause, then two blinks.This is showing that it is in the diagnostic mode. read all codes the same way, untill it starts with 12 again. Write them down. Then remove the negative cable from your battery post,after one minute, replace neg. cable. The light should be off.If it comes on again, it has set a hard code. You must repair whatever the codes indicate. Get a list of trouble codes online at Google.

is the vehicle overheating? check fluid levels and make certain cooling fan operates when engine gets hot. change air filter and fuel filter if you haven't done so recently. this would be a good place to start eliminating possibilities.

these transmissions are notorious for being "junk" replace transmission.

if you are the original owner, look in your paperwork. if you cant get to the original owner or they dont have the info, you can go to your dealer, and they can reset it for you. and charge you

or you can just start entering codes till it works, which will take you weeks or more.

I don't even know where to start, Here is a link for you and hope it's going to shine some light at the end of the tunnel. it's going to give you instruction on to how to retrieve DTC codes and possible causes to why your neon is doing what it's doing.

look on the front and look for a small hole ther ma be a reset buton that you need to put a pin or pen to push

That me your battery has been disconnected with in the last 50 starts!! so your buddy did disconnect the battery when installing it that's rite! sounds like maybe your EGR solenoid might be unplugged look for wires unplugged if you don't see any thing get a OBD 2 scanner and rescan for new codes!! appeared hope this helps!
