Question about 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE

1 Answer

Daytime Running lights wont come on on my 2000 Grand Am SE.

2 weeks ago we got a 2000 grand am se. The daytime running lights worked when we got it. My dad used to be a mechanic on car so he always checks the cars. Well after he went over the car and checked it the Service Vehicle Soon Lights won't come on. Could he have accidentaly hit a switch or a wire or something? The light comes on every time i get in the car even if it is dark out. What do i need to do or check? How do i fix it if it is an easy fix?

Thanks.

Do your high beam headlights work? If you have a burnt high beam light the daytime running lights won't work and then the service vehicle soon light comes on.

First, be sure that the headlights are actually coming on. These cars have daytime running lights that use the headlight bulbs at a lower voltage. If the car is only using the daytime running lights, the tail lights will not be on with the headlights. The multifunction lever always turns on the high beams when you pull on it (it's called 'flash to pass'). Make sure the headlight switch is working, and also check the headlight circuit breaker.

Actually, just wipe it off with a soft clean cloth. Shouldn't get too dirty, maybe dusty with road grime as the other parts of the interior.

Perhaps there is a problem with the circuit.

Start by setting your auto headlight switch to off if this solves it replace your headlight switch If your car is equipped with daytime running lights there could be a short bridging them with your auto head lights look for broken or frayed wires do this also if you have installed or had someone install an aftermarket stereo or speakers/sub woofer, amplifier. Good Luck with this
