Water pump is leaking because it has a weep hole. When it starts leaking then its time to replace. Replacing is not a hard job. Autozone has not only a new pump on the shelf for your needs but they also have replacement instructions on their website. I would estimate it to be a 1-2 hour job for a do it yourself guy. The big issue is having the right tools. All in all on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the hardest. I would give it a 2. Easy job

It will need to be replaced, or if it is a gasket, just replace the gasket.

Can I temporary seal my water pump if it leaks

It is generally not recommended to try to temporarily seal a leaking water pump. Water pumps are an essential component of a vehicle's cooling system, and a leaking water pump can cause serious damage to the engine if it is not repaired promptly.

If you are experiencing a leak from your water pump, the best course of action is to have the pump repaired or replaced as soon as possible. This will ensure that the cooling system is functioning properly and that your vehicle is safe to drive.

Trying to temporarily seal a leaking water pump with a sealant or other type of temporary fix may only provide a short-term solution and could potentially cause further damage to the pump or other parts of the cooling system. It is important to address the issue properly and have the water pump repaired or replaced as needed to avoid potential engine damage.

If you are not experienced with repairing water pumps or other cooling system components, it is generally recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified mechanic or a dealership. They will have the knowledge and expertise to diagnose the problem and recommend the appropriate course of action.

How to fix a 2002 mitsubishi galant water leak

Depends upon the source of the water leak. Common places to leak are at hose connections, the radiator core, the heater core, or the water pump. Once you have identified the source of the leak, repair or replace parts as needed. If you have a 6-clyinder model, the water pump is located behind the timing cover, driven by the timing belt. Many owners believe that the repair shop is trying to rip them off when thy recommend water pump replacement at timing belt replacement time and opt not to do it since the pump is working. Unfortunately, the new timing belt will cause a different wear pattern on the pump shaft and almost unfailingly, the pump will leak within a few weeks or months after the timing belt is done. Many shop now refuse to replace the timing belt without water pump replacement for this reason, or will make the owner sign a waiver of responsibility if they refuse the additional service/cost.

99 volkswagon leaking antifreeze at housing site

If by housing you mean water pump, that is an indication the water pump is worn and needs replacement. Water pumps are built in such a way that when the bearings become worn, coolant will leak from a weep hole built into the pump as a indicator that the water pump is failing, but gives you a chance to drive it to a repair shop before complete failure. Keep an eye on the coolant level until water pump is replaced. Do not delay this repair... Best of luck resolving this problem.

How do I repair a leak coming from water pump gasket?

If it's leaking from the gasket you'll have to replace the gasket. If coolant is leaking from the hole in the water pump body the water pump seal is leaking. The pump will have to be replaced if the seal is leaking.

Water Pump leaks from the front end of the Wagon.

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Determine the Reason for Water Pump Failure
    • 1 Repair a water pump by checking your car for a failure in the bearings. You can test for bearing failure by seeing if there is any play in the shaft that is connected to the electrical fan blades, as well as the drive pulley to the pump itself.
    • 2 If you notice any free play in the shaft or the pulley, you will need to take the pump apart and replace the bearings.

    • 3 Determine if the water pump failure is due to a leak in the casing. Examine the water pump housing for leaking or water stains in the drainage hole next to the pulley.
    • 4 If water is dripping from this hole, then the seals inside the pump need to replaced in order to repair the pump.
Remove the Water Pump for Repair
    • 5 Allow the engine to cool completely before removing any part of the cooling system. Never open a radiator cap or plug while the engine is still warm.
    • 6 Disconnect the car battery. This will prevent the electrical fan from turning on while you are under the hood.
    • 7 Drain the radiator of all fluid and disconnect the radiator hoses. Collect the fluid with a plastic container and keep it in a safe place until you are ready to put it back into the radiator.
    • 8 Remove the fan assembly. This will include the shroud, the fan and the fan belt. Disconnect the electrical leads for the fan.
    • 9 Remove the pulley for the fan belt as well in order to have access to the water pump.
    • 10 Use a socket set to remove the water pump from its engine mount.
    • 11 Open the housing for the water pump and replace the seals or bearing as necessary. Some auto parts stores carry repair kits that have both the seals and bearings for specific types of water pumps.
    • 12 Reassemble the cooling system by replacing the water pump, pulley, fan belt, fan assembly and radiator hoses. Refill the radiator with the fluid.
    • 13 Start the engine to see if the water pump repair was successful. Check for leaks before you take the car out on the road.

Water pump is leaking and causing the engine to overheat. The pump has been "repaired" what shall i do now?

obviously the water pump was never fixed properly if it is still leaking, take it back to were you had it repaired and have them repair it properly. A number of problems could cause your vehicle to over heat.
-water pump not working properly.
-low antifreeze.
-air lock.
- rad cap not working properly.
-thermos stat not working properly.
