SOURCE: paint code

All Saturn paint codes are located in the trunk. (or rear compartment for wagons) The code is listed on the white Service Tag that is attached to the spare tire cover. The paint code will be near the bottom of the tag and will begin with "WA" or "U" for most cars. (Example: WA107E = Dark Blue Pearl)

this is a factory flaw most of the time if the car was never repainted but can be caused by chips from stones or salt damage

My 2005 Hyundai Elantra looks disgusting. The clear paint is peeling off all over the back section of the car. This car is electric blue, and not yet 6 years old! What has caused this. Paint/panel guys...

Deterioration of the clearcoat can be caused from several things, not the least of which is the environment, such as acid rain or air polution. Usually it is caused from lack of maintenance, such as not using a protective wax or polish regularly. I have seen instances where too much polishing with a power buffer caused the clearcoat to wear away. Or it could just be a poor factory paint job. Lots of those around. Shop around for a good price on repaint. Where I am from, there is a paint and body business call MAACO that will repaint a car very cheaply. Their paint jobs don't last more than a couple of years, but they look really good when fresh. You may find someone who paints cars as a hobby, or second income. They usually do decent work for little profit. Check the want ads and local bulletin boards. You may be surprised at how affordable a new paint job can be.

Cant figure out how to remove outside door handle on 92 saturn sl2. need to work on window regulator. thanks for any help.

Lift up the handle and look closely underneath. You will see two small black plastic pins. These can be pushed out either way, you will have to buy new ones at an autobody/paint supply store to reinstall. When they are out, the handle will come off.

How much would a new paint job cost and where do I get it done?

In New York we have franchise paint shops that will do a reasonable paint job starting at 400.00, you can spend more as you decide on the type of paint you want on the car, the paint shop will give you a complete estimate and break down on this. Our shops are called Mako Paint.

Peeling clear coat on black 1999 toyota corolla.

Well it is a common problem with Toyota paint jobs. Unfortunatly a simple wax wont stop this from continuing all though it will hide it from site for a while. The problem has to do with the factory paint job, so a repaint (by Maco or any other botom dollar body shop) will only be a band-aid fix, and will most likely rear it's ugly head somewhere down the line. If you intend to sell the car this may be a way to make it look sharp and easier to sell. **** if you intend to keep it I would not sugest it as you will most definatly be dissapointed as a repaint is only a temporary fix for this issue.

To thoroughly fix this issue you would need to have the car professionally stripped (at least down to the collor coat) and repainted. This will be expensive, and most likely will cost more than it is worth for a car that old. I would start by checking to see if there was a factory recall on the paint for that year, make, and model.

Good Luck!

The bumpers on my 95 Honda del Sol are moderately oxidized. I've tried everything from armor all to testing a patch with compound. Nothing brings the original paint back for long. Is there a more permanent...

Repainting is definitely the best solution, but a laminar-flow spray booth is the only way to get a great-looking finish, and they're expensive enough that only pros buy them. :(
Failing that, have you tried spraying on a "clear coat" of enamel after using whatever compound does the best temporary job? Auto-parts stores usually carry clear coat in spray cans, and that can extend the life of whatever original paint you have left...

It should be located within the serial number. Any dealer or body shop should be able to assist you with this.
