The dealer replaced the ignition switch, no help. It is really working backwards. It dings every time the LH door is open w/ out th ekey in the ignition or the lights on. It does not work as it should when the car is running & lights are on. In park w/ lights on you open the drivers door & it does not ding.
SOURCE: my door ajar light stays on constantly. therefore

The door locks wont work when the car is on. Dont spend time chassing this problem beacuse it is tied in with the ignition switch.
SOURCE: doors locking and dinging sound while driving
One of your door sensors in the door jam is loose or worn out, or a door is out of adjustment, and not closing all the way.
SOURCE: chimes ring when you open drivers side door no keys in ignition
Sounds like the contact for the key chime in the steering column is shorted to ground. The only way to get the contact is to buy the clockspring. If you can live with it leave it alone. The clockspring is labor intense. You have to remove the airbag, steering wheel, and trim around column. If you ar mechanically inclined you could just disconnect it by cutting the wire going to the chime. It is under the key tumbler. I hope this helps.
