Fuse blows everytime I attempt to use the washer fluid.

Wss initially told that the problem is the water pump. I replaced it. Still no go. Was informed of another possibility- a problem with the wiper/turn signal control arm attached to the steering column. Shop wants to replace. Is it reasonable that the blown fuses are caused by a defective wiper control arm?

Really?! the water pump?! the water pump has nothing to do with your wipers it is part of the COOLING system. as for your issue...it could be a short in the wiper/signal arm in the steering column, or it could be the motor in your washer fluid bottle. the motor is what pushes the fluid through to your windshield and if its gone bad it will blow your fuses as well. i would start with the washer fluid reservoir motor and go from there

SOURCE: blowing atc fuse

you have a short in the circuit somewhere. look for a wire that has been rubbing on something or has come lose and is grounding out.

SOURCE: how to replace the wiper and turn signal switch

Check your local library for a Chilton or Haynes repair manual (mine has lots for older Chevys)....if the repair is anything like my 89 C1500 was, you will need the detailed instructions the book gives and maybe a special tool to remove the steering wheel.

SOURCE: 1997 Chevy Tahoe both turn signals stopped working

Sounds like the flasher unit to me. Normally the emergency flasher and turn signal are separate.

SOURCE: washer fluid won't spray, don't think it's frozen

Hello there:
if you have checked the right fuse and it is ok than i would check the wiring to see if there is a break some where in the wire or if it is grounded somewhere also check to see if it has voltage going to the motor t if so than i would check the motor itself with the meter to see if it has high ohms if so than the motor is shot it does not have to be froze to be bad but if you dont have high ohms than the motor may be good but the pump itself may need to be primed ok?
I hope that this has been very helpful for you
best regards michael

When lever is pulled to spray washer fluid it blows 20 amp fuse.

To test, disconnect positive from pump and try to spray. If it still blow the fuse then you have shorted circuit somewhere. If it doesn't blow the fuse then either pump is shorted or stuck and draws too much amperage.

Both the front and back wipers of my 2007 Saturn Vue work, but no fluid comes out, even though it's full, and no sound is heard like it does when out of fluid.

Many possibilities.
Check to see if the electric motor that pumps the washer fluid is working by detaching the hose at the bottom of the washer tank and starting the car & dashboard washing switch ( the multi-switch that controls the washer.)
If you get no fluid squirting out, either the fuse or the washer pump motor is bad.
If it is pumping fluid out there, try hooking a hose to the fluid line and blowing on it to see if fluid will pass through the line, or if it is plugged up ( usually at the nozzle).
If that is clear, perhaps the whole system has lost it's "prime".
Try charging the whole system with water by blowing water from your mouth into the washer lines.
Many cars can lose their "prime" with months or years of dis-use.
God bless your efforts.

Fuse blows when attempting to use washer fluid

I would be looking for where the power wire to the pump could touch the earth wire or any earth point near the washer pump check the actual connection on the pump for the terminals touching .

My blinker and washer fluid won't work on my dodge caravan

This sounds like the fuse for the turn signal/washer has blown. I've had a similar problem that traced back to the washer pump. Replace the fuse and just "bump" the washer switch. If the washer doesn't turn on, don't hold it on or it will blow the fuse again. You'll need to replace the washer pump. In the meantime before your pump replacement, your turn signals will work again.

I hope this helps! :)

Windshield washer pump not working. where is it, how difficult to replace?

First you should check the fuse might be blown, sometimes people use a lesser quality fluid and it freezes causing the pump to blow the fuse .if not that then remove the washer fluid tank and you will find pump on the bottom.not difficult.

I have a 1998 chrysler concord and i can get windsheild washer fluid to spray the resevoir is full no fluid is leaking out the wipers activate upon initiating the spray sequence but no fluid comes out

Pull out the small tube connected to the jet the fluid comes out of and check for any kind of debris, after blowing out the tube try and activate washer before you connect the hose again if no fluid comes out of the tube than that replace the small pump connected to the resivoir thay are about $15.00
