Sudden loss of power Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hello I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee overland, earlier i was traveling at 60mph then tried to accelerate and the engine management light came on and the electronic throttle light flashed red. the car lost power and would not rev above 2000 rpm, i guess limp mode. this has only happened twice in a fortnight. any thought what the problem could be? Thanks

One of the accelerator position sensors may be bad putting it into limp home mode . Have it scanned for codes and post them here .

check cam sensor,if the timing isn't adjusting with acceleration then you would have noticable power loss

a bad cam sensor will cause vehicle to shut off while driving, and cause a hard time starting. but this usually sets a trouble code p0340. scan vehicle to see if any codes come up. after it is fixed, erase codes with a obd2 scanner. if you do not have one, you can go to any auto parts store and they will erase codes for free.

have the fault codes read and replace the faulty units. Ask the service person if they pressure cleaned the engine as that quite often causes problems with water getting into the connections and shorting out

Call local jeep dealership. Give them your VIN number and they can supply you with the radio code. Did you check the glove compartment? Most of the time its located inside on a sticker.

I want to speed up my 2007 grand cherokee overland

Best bet is to start with an aftemarket performance air intake. (ex-K &N, AEM). Exhaust (flowmaster) is the next step. with those two you should an additional 15 ish horses. next step would a chip module. (ex-hypertech). Additional horses for you.

Intake will give you instant results. Throttle response, air flow, and a better sound
Exhaust. Will sound great. May not notice the performance portion, but needed.
Chip Module. Your biggest expense without getting in big, but will take your jeep to the next level. lets your jeep open up and remove rev limits and such. Fun to play with and works. Don't fall trap to knock offs. You find a whole lot junk like on ebay. Stick to the heavy hitters with this. (Jet/Hypertech to name a couple.)
Check out www.jegs.com to look at some performance parts. There a decent site with a lot to look at. Have fun.
