I believe my remote start is causing issues with my 2002 Mercury Villager. There will be times were it will start and other were it won't. When it won't there are no lights or any electricity thought the van. I put the key in to turn and nothing. I open the door and all the gauges go up and down. Still there is nothing. Then the horn will honk and all the lights come on and then it will start. Sometimes the lights won't come on with opening the door. What do you think it is?

Have a load test done on the battery. If it checks out good, take a voltmeter to the battery and have an assistant rotate the engine. If you see more than a 2 volt drop when the car is being started, the starter is heading south.

If ur drivers door locks easy and unlocks easy inside it is your lock cylinder. This tells me if you bought the van used it was probably wrecked at one point. door replaced. If you have had it sence new try taking it to a body shop and have them remove it from the door and lube it up.

If you have the factory alarm system, you can put your key into either door and lock and unlock the door, that signals the computer to deativate the alarm. If you have an aftermarket alarm system installed, it will have to be removed and the wiring that the alarm ties into must be restored to factory design.
