Check the exhaust sys and make sure the muffler or converter is not plugged. If so it puts back pressure on the engine and will not allow fuel in to start. Hope this helps.
I believe it's your clutch. If you can shift gears okay with the engine off, but you cannot shift gears with the engine running, (the gear shifter only grinds when trying to shift into first?) then your clutch has worn out. To replace a clutch, the transaxle has to be first removed from the car. I'm afraid you will have to have it towed to a shop or garage.
Take it to Autozone and let them check it to see what code shows up. They wont clear it for you, but you can do it your self by disconnecting the negitive battery cable and reconnect it after 30 minutes.
reset the choke thermostat! and adjust the choke pull off linkage also check the vacumn choke pull off it may not be working and you can buy just that part any parts store
hows your battery?,for the engine, not the electric motor,Prius,normally dont have any quirky issues with electrics,and behave normally if the car batery is flat,ie...it will behave like any other car if the normal battery is flat or old,check by jumping,(fuse box under hood has terminal for + and put neg(black) on suspension bolt ) 3 each strut top.That should work to see if thats your problem
I'm not sure about that. I'm assuming that you've checked the fuse. There may be a circuit breaker for the top operation as well, and that may have blown (those are under the hood usually, or under the dash on the driver's side). Have you tried cycling the ignition a few times, or maybe a 30 minute disconnect on the battery? That usually puts the car's computers into relearn mode. I'm just throwing out ideas here since I've never dealt with this before, but they're worth trying.
