SOURCE: I have a 2000 ford focus 2.0 zetec dual overhead
all Zetec engines (2.0 DOHC) are NOT interference engines. There are deep reliefs cut into the top of the piston to clear the valves when they are fully extended. There will be no valve damage if the timing belt breaks on a Zetec engine.

there isnt marks!the cam pulleys have do nothing with timing!remove the valve cover and see in the other end of the camshafts and find two eccentric cuts!turn the crankshaft to the top dead point on the cylinder 1 the two cuts must be in the same line on the upper or lower side.you need aspecial tool to lock the camshafts and another to lock the crankshaft!this is the timing procedure!now you can change anything you want!note!the cam pulleys are conejointed to the camshafts!no marks no pins no safe pins etc.isnt difficult but complicated simple!
Testimonial: "thank you"
SOURCE: Has anyone come up with a fix for the loud whistle
I thought this was an issue with the alternator. If it is the same one, there was a TSB on this a while back, only sound issue, to date I have yet to see a failure with the alternator due to this.
My 2006 does it, I confirmed with an engine stethoscope still have no issues in 56K miles, and stil have the factory battery installed.
