The engine runs smooth when driving but when just sitting and idling it goes dead.
SOURCE: Rough idle
I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: oil light at idle
I had a similar problem on a 1999 Galant V6, oil level was ok.
I found out, that the problem was on the contact, oxidation between the contact and the cablejack.
Cleaning it helped in my case.

you may have a bad plug or plug wire its hard to say for sure but id look at all the wires and make sure none of them are grounding out anywhere
SOURCE: engine bucks when driving
If you have changed your timing, you may need to change the spark plugs (inexpensive at an auto store) out, they may be misfiring. Another part of that, could be the distributor cap which is a little more pricey new, you may want to look at a junk yard type place.
Let me know if this works

Check your motor mounts, recently engine idled rough when in nuetral or stopped in drive, also jerked when put in reverse. took it to a automotive shop and found motor mounts cracked. Runs great now
