2002 pontiac grand am gt sedan, since we have moved to the country with bumpy roads and ext. here recently have been noticing it getting worse now. the passenger side front started with a very faint clack every time i went over a bump, now it has been getting a tad bit worse noticing it more on bumpy roads, along with that when im driving there is a very slight vibration coming from the right side. when accelerating i can feel it a little worse and only sometimes faintly in the steering wheel, so faint i think its just my imagination. on top of all of that now here passed couple days every time i slow down and/or making left or right hand turns there will be a series of popping noises. already replaced, brakes, wheel hub bearings, stearing shelf and tires are still in great condition. Please help ! will take any considerations
If you hear a clacking sound esp. while turning. Sound like your CV joints (constant velocity) or Front Wheel Drive axle.
Thank you for all your comments and sollutions i have inspected the shocs/struts and one of the boots on the passenger side shock has been shoved up and is exposing some stuff that it shouldnt be. guessing a new set of shocks would help by issolating the problem. the boot on the CV joint has no sign of problems but u never know. ill be headed to autozone today to get me a new set of shocks and a new cv joint. if any thing these repairs even if its not the problem will not hurt to be replaced. now that ive still been driving it for the passed few weeks since ive posted this the vibration has finnally moved to the steering wheel in a noticable way. ill replace these things and will post a outcome of this on here later on.thank u guys very much.

SOURCE: 98 Pontiac Grand am load clunk, shaking
sounds like lower balljoints or inner tie rod ends jack up the car try to move wheel from side to side

HI, i would inspect the strut assembly for loose structure asap. i would also inspect the wheel knuckle and rotor and tie rod ends for loose fit as well. inspect thoroughly.
Its most likely the CV-joint assembly. the boot may have slipped off, allowing the joint assembly to dry up. i advise to inspect all the above before looking at the CV-half joint assembly and boot.

I had a similar problem, when turning to the right or on a right curve, the noise would go away. After some research I found it was the left wheel bearing assembly. I replaced it and the problem is gone. Therefore, check the wheel bearing assembly. You may have to replace it.

sounds like your front end is worn out and yes tie rod ends are a common source of this problem along with out of balance tires and seperated tire cords, any tire store will inspect your car for free and give you an estimate to repair.

If you have a warranty from your dealer, you paid for it, or whether it came with it, it doesn't matter, you MAKE them honor it. Take it back there, and MAKE THEM FIX IT! This shouldn't be your problem if you have a warranty. If they aren't honoring it, threaten them with the BBB or court. They will shape up.
I would say power steering pump.First check to make sure there is fluid in the reserve tank and at the proper level if not top it off and whine should stop.If level is correct then maybe try flushing with fresh fluid.
3.8L engine the power steering fluid was never toped/checked.. because it is a pain in the *** to get at (behind the hot as hell alternator), so it probably ran dry, top it up is probably all you have to do.. if the whining presists then you will have to try and bleed the air out by jacking it up, engine off, turn the wheel one side to the other about 25 times.. if that dont quiet it up then you will have to replace the power steering pump.
Power steering pump / fluid level is not hard to check - it is located below the alternator on the passenger side of the engine bay. You need a light to see it. You can get your hand down from the top of the engine to loosen and remove the cap/dipstick.
