Check your fuses to make sure they are OK. Your turn signal is on a different circuit than the tail lights. I think.

SOURCE: my brake lights are not working.

It could be the brake light switch above the brake pedal. Maybe this switch is bad. Just another thing you might want to check.

SOURCE: 2003 nissan pathfinder blows tail lamp fuse

you got a wiring issue that keeps shorting out fuses find that and that should take care of everything else

Testimonial: "It was a wiring issue with the trailer light's control module located behind the driver's rear tire. Somehow, it went bad, and was causing all the problems. I bypassed it and problem solved. Funny, Ive had the Nissan for 9 years and never even used the hitch or light plug and it ended up causing me 2 days of chaos!"

SOURCE: Brake Lights Don't Work

You most likely have a defective/dirty brake light switch. Have a mechanic check the switch.

When I turn my lights on my tail lights work but when I hit my brakes the don't light up I have a 2001 vw beetle????

the brake lights don't light up or the taillights don't light up? the brake lights are brighter than the tailights so the tailights won't show up whenbrakes are applied. if no lights work when brakes are applied then check for a bad ground at the light assembly.

Check the ground for your rear lights. It's probably one single ground for all the rear lights, though I don't know that for sure. If it's not a grounding issue, it must be a loose power connection.

I bet you missed a fuse. Your tail lamps are protected by fuse #9 in the instrument panel fuse block. It is a 20 Amp fuse and is marked "PARK LPS".

I have a 1996 dakota with no tail lights. The brake lights work. I think it may be a fuse, but I don't have a manual to see what fuse it may be,????

Why would it be a fuse?
You have front parking lights? Then no fuse

If it was a fuse ---would that fix it -- NO it wouldn't
Why do fuses blow?

Have you even removed the tail light housing & checked the bulbs,
or checked the sockets for ground or under truck for wiring
harness issues?

Don't need a manual to check all fuses under the dash &
in the box near brake booster
