It has a bad Low/Reverse Clutch or a bad Reverse Input Clutch, Either way it will need rebuilt to fix.

Sounds like the reverse clutch is shot, pull the pan and look for allot of grey material in the pan, some is normal but a big pile is trouble, if it is not to bad change the fluid and filter and use the new DEXRON 6 fluid, it is compatable with all GM automatics, keep your fingers crossed and it should give you a little while longer before u need an overhaul..

1991 chevy pickup automatic no reverse why there is no reverse gear

Occasionally a person can have good results by checking for low transmission fluid levels or by changing the tranny fluid and filter. However, I am sorry to say, losing reverse gear USUALLY means it is time to get a new transmission. If you are on a tight budget, you can always dedicate a day or two to removing it, and put in a used one from a wrecking yard.

1988 Toyota 5 speed manual w series transmission will only engage 4th gear. Why

Did you check the transmission fluid level? if it is OK, then you need to have a transmission specialist look into this.

My transmission in my 1989 chevy c1500 will not go into reverse. It is an automatic 4 speed transmission. All other gears work fine with no slippage or anything but when in reverse it will start to roll...

It's a problem in the transmission. Most likely a snap ring has broke. This ring keeps the clutches compressed and in position. Problem is you have to pull the transmission and disassemble the entire inside of it to get to the ring.

What is it when in reverse the automatic transmission on a 1999 Camaro grinds?

Reverse is not "synchronized" forward gears are, so it does make some noise, try shifting to 2nd before engaging reverse to slow gear rotation and limit gear clash or grind.

Reverse light adjustment for 1988 chevy silverado

The switch is mounted on the side of the transmission. There is some adjustment range by loosening the mount screws and rotate the switch until the lites come on when in reverse.

Reverse went out on 1978 Chevy pickup

Nothing. Also it will be much cheaper to find a used matching transmission with low (less than 80k miles) than having a shop rebuild the old one. In most cases the used transmission will far outlast the rebuilt one. Check on the web by Googling "used transmissions".

Reverse stopped working in 1978 chevy pickup

Most likely the reverse part of the transmission has gone bad. It will need to be overhauled.

Have 1st 2nd and reverse, no drive 1988 model 2 wd

sounds like 3rd gear clutch is out (it might have blew out a lip seal or something)
pull the pan c if there is a lot of black on the bottom of pan (no 3rd = no 4th either) the 3rd gear clutches are engaged along with the 4th gear clutches to make overdrive
if the tcc cable is out of adjustment it mite shift at wot (wide open throttle) max rpm (5000-5500)
if it just 1,2, neutral its probly clutches

1988 Ford Bronco Transmission Issues

is the idle speed correct? do you shift into second before trying to engage reverse?, is the clutch ok, this is most likely not the trans at all but one of the above issues, the clutch is my guess.

Nissan pulsar 1988 wont go into gear I can put the gear stick in the right gear but does nothing wont reverse or drive, its automatic and has a reconditioned engine in it

try checking your transmission oil (i had the same problem but after $30 it was fixed) it might had drained out. if your transmission oil is fine then consult a mechanic preferebly an automatic transmission specialist. may be your transmission needs a rebuild.
