My 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier stalls on hills occasionally, but it's an automatic. At speeds of 50 mph and higher, it drives fine. Between 30 and 50mph, it jerks every now and then. Sometimes every c

When I got the car it had 150 K miles on it. But a diagnostic check was done. And it was good. No issues with the transmission or anything. Or else I would not have boght it. I have not had it more than a month and now these issues are arising. This is my first car.

Only way it would work is to do the 01 conversion by switching the whole doghouse (fenders, hood, bumper, lights, etc.) It can be done though.

SOURCE: 1992 Chevy Suburban rpms jump at 60+ mph

When the transmission jumps the extra RPM by 200 or 300 RPM. That's your Torque Converter Clutch lock up disengaging or it's slipping. Pull the transmission dip stick out and check the fluid level and condition of the fluid, look to see that it's not burning. If the fluid is not burning then it's the Torque converter clutch unlocking and the Throttle position Sensor may need to be readjusted, or if the transmission is still running off a TV cable. The TV cable may need to be adjusted and or the transmission filter may be dirty and needs to be changed. Take it to a transmission shop and explain to them what the transmission is doing. I'm not sure if your transmission is an 4L80 or a 4L80E. If it's the 4L80E the PCM and ECM control the lock up to your converter. If the PCM detects a problem with the transmission, it drops the transmission fluid pressure to the converter clutch. If it's a 4L80, it's controlled by the TV cable and vacuum lines to the transmission modulator. Regardless they can look in to this when they change the transmission fluid and filter. Recap: Have the Suburban's ECM scanned for any transmission DTC codes. Service the transmission if the fluid is dark in colour and burnt. Adjust any linkage to the transmission that is an issue to it's performance. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

My neighbor's 1998 Cavalier is making a strange noise. It has automatic transmission, new tires, and 155,000 miles. When idling at a stop, it sounds fine, but when it starts movig and hits 15 or 20 mph...

Try getting on an open road, get up to about 45 MPH or where ever the noise is loudest. Put the car in neutral and turn the engine off. You can roll in a straight line for a long time. Make sure nodody is around you. If the sound stops when the engine is off, then the noise is coming from the motor. If the sound is still there, its got to be coming from the tires. Id guess a wheel bearing.

My daughter has a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. Yesterday, when she was driving it up a hill, the car wouldn't accelerate even when pushing the gas. She stopped and put it in park for a few seconds...

The cavalier 2.4L engine had a problem with the crank sensor intermittently going bad. Sometimes it will run sluggish for a few minutes or even stall but eventually crank back up and run fine. The sensor is about $30 and can be changed in 10mins. It is located directly above the starter.

I have 2005 chevy cavalier that stalls .

Check to see if you emission system sensors are plugged in, such as the air intake sensor which is plugged into the air hose at the front of the engine. Another possibility is your gas cap. Replace it, its very cheap. If it only occurs at higher speeds it may be clogged injectors. Dump a bottle or two of injector cleaner into the gasoline tank after a fill-up. You might also try some octane booster which is methanol and will mix with and help remove any water in your fuel tank.
