It has compression 80 to 180 psi, depending on which cylinder i check, so I know theres some piston rings or bent valves or timing is off, but the valves are fine & the timing has been checked a few times & is good. with the compression readings its giving, I think it should still run & the main problem is something else because it did run & abruptly stopped when the belt broke. I don't want to hear the valves are bent, because they're not & they've been checked by multiple people. So Any other ideas for whats keeping it from starting? please & thanks.
Any compression difference of 20 lbs or more is a serious problem. you seem like a logical fellow, so where would such a compression loss occur? rings, gasket, or valves. the standard way to find out where compression is leaking is called a wet/dry compression test. first you take readings the standard way and write them down. then you squirt a little oil into the cylinders one by one and test them again. if the compression goes up by more than 20 lbs., then the rings are the problem. if the reading stays the same as the first time then it is valves. tell that to the multiple people.
