Scottykw I have an 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais quad 4,2.3L needing help locating the knock sensor on my car, rough idling and slow and sluggish acceleration.ive replaced the crank shaft position sensor and spark plugs, and fuel filter and allot of other things, but not the knock sensor or the Mass air flow sensor...where can I locate the knock sensor?
I will assume it is a 2.5 liter. The control module is bolted to the back of the block underneath the intake manifold. The assembly incorporates the crank sensor, module and coils. Just follow the spark plug wires and you will find it.
The ignition module is located under the coil packs on the v-6 engine.
That is where the spark plug wires go to the spark plugs . When you remove the coil packs ,the flat peice is themodule. When you remove the module , the crankshaft sensor is sometimes located there ,and that also should be changed
I had the same thing happen on a 91 Olds 88. Replaced crank shaft position sensor, coil, and ignition module. That solved the problem. I think the culprit was the CSP Sensor, but changed all three so can't say for sure.
