Question about 1986 Ford Ranger 2WD

1 Answer

1992 Mercedes Benz, 190E, 2.6 engine died when idle. Won't start.

Car died while idling. Then wouldn't start back. It would turn over but wouldn't start. I live on a dirt road. Paid $500.00 to have it fixed. Picked it up and drove about three miles to durg store. Was in there bout fifteen minutes. While driving home about 3 miles away it missed a few times. Decided to let it idle in driveway to see what happened. It died and won't start back again. Only symptoms I've had in the past yr. Is while driving very slow (near idle) on dirt road it would die. But always cranked right up. Done this about 3 or 4 times within a year. Mechanic said he replaced fuel filter, he said has good fuel pressure. Said something about a switch he either replaced, cleaned or something. He replaced distributor cap. He said parts were over $300.00 :). I cracked oil cap trying to get it off about a month ago. Didn't replace it. Husband said coil has good voltage. Thankyou for any help :).

Husband said it's not airfilter. He's thinking it's an ignition problem. He thinks maybe ignition control unit. That cost almost more than the car is worth.

It's a 1989 5.0 4x4. The problem is it won't start up after I shut it off, unless I wait an hour or more.I've been told numerous things it could starts up in the morning or after work, with a little hesitation, but it starts.A five minute drive down the street I'll have to wait an hour to start. I've changed the fuel filter, fuel pump relay switch,it idles good, drives good just won't start. I'm beginning to think it's not the fuel system. I'm thinking that within that hour, something is cooling then starting. The ignition relay on the side of distributor? Starter solenoid? I've been driving it like this for many months. Has left me and my family stranded a few times. Little money don't want to buy a $100 part then that not be the problem. I need help. Anybody have that problem?

Check your airfilter. your dirt road is killing it much faster than driving it on pavement

How to adjust idlefor 1992 mercedes benz 190 e 2.6

do you want to adjust the idle up or down? If your car has too high of an idle, you probably have a vacuum leak. buy a can of starting fluid. Start the car and lightly start spraying starter fluid all over the intake. You will hear the engine change RPMs. When it does, that is where you have a leak. If you want to idle your car up, you will need to adjust your throttle plate. Where your throttle hand moves when you rev your engine, it has a little screw that you can adjust to make the throttle arm stop sooner, allowing more airflow into the engine.

Hi ,I have a 190e 2.6 my problem is she dies when on ideling for 10 min and when cold starts she flutters then gets the rev.Thank you ZFY

Not sure about this specific car... but most have an idle solenoid, a small elecrtric motor that has a rod that slides in and out pushing against the throttle, the mechanism that controls engine speed. When you gas pedal is pushed you can see the throttle moving in the engine compartment. Sometimes the problem is the solenoid itself, or sensors that feed the computer faulty info about how to maintain the idle. D you have a check engine light on? If so, some auto stores can determine what the problem is by using a device that asks the car computer what part triggered the check engine light. Please rate answer.

My 1992 190E(1.8) has recently been to 3 garages

You could have 2 problems. The hard start in the AM could be a bad fuel accumulator and or check valve in the fuel pump. The engine cutting out could be a bad idle stabilization valve, dirty throttle body and housing or a bad 02 sensor, could also be just a CO adjustment. Where are you located?

1988 Mercedes Benz 300E 3.0L Gasoline F.I. ''Sputtering at Idle must have more than one car???? you don't drive the 300 atall im guessing. #1 start car drive up the road and \back to your house. #2 let it idle till problem starts. #3 once it does start with the problem keep it alive with the gas pedal. #4 once your have it safely from dying in higher rpms "rev it" like a kid would, you know like if you were gonna race some one lol. be careful not to over rev or damage engine. you should do this for five minutes no longer than that. #5 let it idle for another 5 minutes. #6 repeat every day until problem with idling decipates. it took mine 3 300e like 3 days of this. if your not going to drive the car once you get the problem out of the way. turn the car on everyday and let it idle for 5 minutes atleast and take it for a short drive once a week. they get lonelly you know lol. later on you can just turn the car on every 2 -3 days and let it idle but still take it on a short drive atleast once a week

Benz 190e 1992 , when it is cold ,car dies when i strat to drive

Sounds like your battery is weak and if it is over two years old replace it. You can test the battery with a hydrometer. Also check battery terminals for tightness and corrosion. When a battery is weak it becomes subject to cold temperatures and failure. Also have your altenator and voltage regulator checked.

Engine rough in low idle

I would start by replacing your automatic air intake and throtle body sensor. Check these 2 things out and let me know.
