1999 dodge durango seems to sputter and buck

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango that started to sputter while idling at intersections, now it seems to be getting worse and now seems to be bucking when going down road and pressing gas to accelerate, feeling as if it is going to stall out completely. Now the check engine light has come on. Could this be a spark plug problem or possibly a fuel filter problem ?

I agree with Krazy.... I own a 98' D. and generally keep it tuned up every 20-30k. You might also check the air filter as well. Regular service will keep your D on the road a long time.

If you have the cash, get a K&N filter for it. It will help improve your mileage slightly, and a little added acceleration never hurts. :)

Something fun:

I stage 2 chipped mine, put the K&N cold air intake kit (replaced the air box for the direct air tube), put stainless headers on, replaced the exhaust with 3" stainless high flow. I also replaced the coil, cap, and wires to MSD. The truck will still like the standard Champion plugs. All of this put my little 318 at 17MPG and over 350HP (365ish).

Will a bad pick up coil stop a 1999 dodge Durango from cranking

It wouldn't stop the engine from turning over while trying to start. But it can make engine not start or run poorly

Dodge durango bucking hesitating while driveing

Start simple and check yourfuel relays and fuses! Next vacumes and air filter! Then spark plug wires&plugs and as I was told grounds on both starter and altenator. if that doesnt help check fuel filter and regulator then make sure the line isnt pinched! that was my last problem and didnt find out till i dropped the fuel tank!

Tune up, air and fuel filters. When was the last time? Also Dodge has several software upgrades for Durango's. Both for the ECM and the TCM. You can call a dealer and ask for your truck, have the VIN number handy, they will need it.
