Hi, Joe here The problem sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. The sensor is located on the transmission bell housing on the left side. Can be accessed threw the top of the engine near the firewall.

you are right, its probably the fuel filter. wow 113120 miles without changing the fuel filter. also, change the air filter and have your intake manifold cleaned. this will greatly improve acceleration and fuel economy. best wishes - hotratchet

Hi, I agree with everything that megasom says, the battery usually is the first port of call when this happens, however, this model corolla has an issue with the starter motor solinoid, this is located on the starter motor and is actually what drives the starter motor, as the contacts wear they stop completing the circuit and therefore does not throw the solinoid to drive the starter. Sometimes you can get some luck by tapping the solinoid with something (soft) while someone else holds the key in the start position but the correct fix is to replace the contacts which means removing the starter from the engine, taking the solinoid cap off, unbolting the contacts (there are 2 of them and they are different from each other) and replacing them with new ones then reassembling the lot. If you are not mechanically minded, please do not carry out this job yourself as the solinoid is spring loaded and the last thing you want is to be chasing parts all over the place. Hope this helps, Cheers.

No the truck was at my mechanics all day Friday and they are taking it to the Ford dealership Monday morning. They checked many things but they too are unfamiliar with Hybrids
