Clear all the codes and then drive it about 10 miles then check the codes again. You need to find out if there is actually spark coming out of the wires on each cylinder. What you are describing almost sounds like a vacuum leak. Listen for any hissing coming from the engine compartment and make sure all the hoses are attached and not pinched or broken or have holes in them.

SOURCE: 2001 Saturn SL No. 1 Cylinder Mis-fire

Solved my problem: After more internet searching and consulting with my mechanic we determined it was the intake manifold gasket folding over into the #1 cylinder. This is common on Saturn engines. The gasket folds over leaving a leak in the vacuum system which causes the car to run lean. Check for a leak by spraying carburator cleaner around the #1 cylinder intake and you will hear the idle change if there is a leak. I had gasket replaced for $450 and car runs like new. My car is a 2000 saturn SL 1 with 60000 miles on it. Hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: 2002 Saturn SL1 rough, sputtering idle - cylinder #1 misfiring

spray some carb cleaner on the passeger side of the intake manifold, right behind the alternator. it is very common for those to leak there and cause those exact problems

SOURCE: code p0302

Look at the wire and plug to cylinder 2, for cracks or damage, if nothing is found run a compression test need 100psi min, and then check the injector, you need to meshure resistance with a multimeter, and compare to other injectors something like 12 to 15 ohms would be good i think.

Engine lite on--code 304--also reader says-- cylinder 4 misfire--multiple

Could be a spark plug or fuel injector. Replace the spark plug first because it's cheaper. Is the car making any strange noises or doing anything unusual?

Engine lite on--code 304--also reader says-- cylinder 4 misfire--multiple

misfires can be from the ignition circuit ( coil/s HT leads -plugs) and it can also be from injectors (low fuel pressure -faulty injectors - leaking injector washers --wiring to injectors).

Code reads number 3 cylinder misfire on my 98 saturn sl2. Changed the plugs and wires. Whats my next move?

I'm having a similar problem with my 2001 Saturn SL-2. My mechanic says this is due to a manufacturing defect in the cylinder casting. He says my cylinder looks like swiss cheese. If is affecting my fuel flow and, caused a small coolant leak into the head gasket. The only cure is to purchase a brand new head cylinder and replace. Estimated cost; $1,600.
