I have a 1997 chevy express 1500 conversion van and it crank but will not turnover, and the only way to get it to turnover is to tap the gas tank but it only run while idleing then it shalls out. change the fuel pump three time now had a complete tune up don't kwon what to do next.

THE CRANK SENSOR IS LOCATED RT UNDER THE CRANK PULLEY. IT IS USUALLYEASIEST WITH AN EMPTY TANK TO REPLACE IT.

before you drop tank again, check fuses & relay.then disconnect fuel line @ filter turn key to on position should hear fuel pump run and get gas stream out of line. if no flow from line new pump faulty be sure & remove negative battery cable first good luck.

I had a simular problem. I had bad plug/coil wires. The foil insulation from the engine cover would draw the voltage from the wires.
