Poor gas mileage using 1/4 tank to commute 96 miles round trip. Gas smell is especially strong when gas is pumped. Hardly noticable on the outside when filling the tank.

It could be the purge valve not working. I'm not sure where yours is but with my Ozzy Ford it is hiding inside the passenger side front guard near the charcoal canister. I used to smell fuel often but not since I replaced the solenoid valve. Check that it is buggered before you buy a new one, they're usually expensive.

Hi. The EGR valve is a very sensitive issue. Buying a used one will always result in a continuing fault code. I recommend purchasing a new EGR valve. Before you install it, be sure to clean the EGR housing thoroughly. there can be carbon build inside where this valve is inserted. this carbon will trip the code if its not cleaned out properly.
please rate and god bless.

wow it sounds like you have a few problems going on. One, your idle speed is set too high and needs to be lowered. Two, i would replace your temperature sensor so that you can monitor your overheating. As well as try and see where the leaking is coming from (i.e. the radiator cap, on the radiator itself, or where the hoses run into the engine-could be engine temperature sensor). Three, if you have to prime your engine at first to get it to run then more than likely fuel pump is going bad.

the gas smell is from all the gas into the clylinders when it dont start,,,normal,,,,,,the no start issue is from the electrical ignition switch goes bad when it gets cold out and doesnt let the car start,,you need a new ignition switch like $40 and reprogram it to the car,i would take it to the dealer, asap because right now you are lucky that it does eventually start, one day it will not start at all so get this fixed before you get stuck
