96 saturn will not start

I have a 96 saturn sc1 that has been sitting for 8 months, I put a new battery, new plugs , changed the oil and still won't start. It will crank but not start.

My car has been sitting for more than a year and ive changed the battery, spark plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter, the spark plug wires and the fuel pump works. Ive been told that its the sensor attatched to the air filter but ive also been told that its the distributor. Could there be any other reason that it dosent work?

Change the gas (and the oil, with Synthetic). The gas loses it's volatility after just a few months and starts to go bad. Siphon all the gas out and put in a fresh tank. Let us know if that helps.

1995 SC1 280K oil burner. Kept full. Previously 41 mpg, now 27 mpg over 1 year span. Oil smells like gas and so does the exhaust. Extreme loss of power. Will not idle. Runs rough at lower rpm, but...

If you are keeping the car forever, swap the engine with a rebuilt one. there are many for sale out there.
about $2k for a rebuilt with core credit. if you are really just keeping it for a year or two until the front "frame" collapses, buy a used engine out of a junkyard, look until you find one with less than 100k on it. there are many for sale on eBay but the shipping will kill you and you most likely have junkyards closer to home.

note if you have an SC1 means SOHC so you have to have a SOHC donor vehicle. SC1,SL1, or SW1
the engines were the same 96, 97,98 i believe. but do not get an older engine.

I have a 2002 Saturn SC1 (1.9 sohc, manual vin 8) giving the error code p0303 (#3 misfire). I replaced the plug twice and both times it seems there is a coating of oil and the spark plug looks burnt. I...

You can swap coils, to see if the condition moves. You can also do this with injectors, or try to "ohm" them out and look for a different reading. I would also swap plug wires to determine if that may be the issue. A compression test may also be a good idea.

My 1992 saturn keeps failing the emissions test due to high HC GPM readings. The PCM indicates no problems. I was told that alot of saturns have this problem. I"ve done everything when it comes to a tune...

it is probably bunring oil which is causing this,,,if it is burning oil you can try this to help it,sometimes it works and other times it doesnt,,,,,get the car good and hot, remove the spark plugs and get top engine cleaner and dump it into the plug hole, let it sit overnight if you can,,,,disconnect the ignition module and put rags over the plug hole and crank the engine a few minutes with breaks inbetween to get all the left over cleaner out the engine,,,,then plug the ignition module in and put the plugs in,it may smoke really really bad,,,just keep running it,,you may have to put foot on gas to start it,,,,,let it burn all the **** out the cylinders and then change the oil and get new plugs and that should help the oil burning if it is a oil burner and hopefully help the emission readings,,
