Lvd, Start the car, leave the shifter in park position.
Remove the transmission dip stick, wipe it clean, reinsert the dip stick and verify it is between the add and full mark.
Do not go over the full mark as that will create a slip condition caused by foaming oil.
Let me know.

My apologies, there is a level plug located on the transmission under the car. You should be able to take the car to your favorite instant oil change facility and they will remove the plug and check the level for you.

When the plug is removed, the fluid should dribble out. If it is low, there will be no oil present, if overfilled, they can drain until it stops.

    Let me know.

    Regards,

I have a 2001 Volvo v70 cross country AWD I added tranny fluid 4 qts but now tranny slips after going a couple miles what can I do to fix..

Four qts of tranny fluid is a lot if u didn't overfill it? About all you can try is a bottle of Transmedic or Transx type fluid from auto parts store. If that doesn't break sticking clutch plates loose you will have to replace the transmission or have it rebuilt.

Add fluid transmission

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Checking automatic transmission fluid

The 5R55N transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.

Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for

fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid.

However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not

working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you

notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.

Transmissiom shifts hard from 2 to 3 and no overdrive

This stuff works GREAT! You can buy it at any local auto part store for about $12. I added it to my 2001 Sonata that was shifting had from 3 to 4 (on the highway). I copied this info from there website. Google it and you'll find tons of reviews, all of which are good.

What Is Lucas Transmission Fix?

Lucas Transmission Fix is a thermal stable blend of petroleum extracted additives. It contains no solvents or anything else that would be harmful to an automatic transmission. It contains a seal conditioner to help stop leaks around seals. It contains a polymetric film which is designed to stop worn bands from slipping. It allows the the transmission fluid to run cooler and controls foaming. It mixes with all automatic transmission fluids. It also contains lubricity agents for smooth, precise shifting. Lucas transmission fix extends existing transmission fluid life up to 3x.

What can Lucas Transmission Fix do for my vehicle?

  • Stops automatic transmission slip
  • Cleans and lubricates sticking valves for smoother shifting
  • Stops leakage around seals
  • Extends fluid life up to 3x
  • Extends the life of your transmission substantially
  • Protects your transmission under all severe service applications

How much Lucas Transmission Fix do I need?

One 24 ounce bottle is all you need. Lucas Transmission Fix will not fix a mechanically unsound transmission. If you have slipping and/or shifting issues this product will help.

2001 Chevy Malibu I just rebuilt the top half of the motor (V6, 3.1L); new lifters and push rods, new plugs, wires, filters. Also flushed the transmission and refilled with new fluid. My problem is that...

It may be possible that flushing the transmission fluid is your problem. Was the fluid really dark and had a slightly burnt smell to it? If the answer is yes, then you probably had an issue with the transmission and didn't know it and the particles suspended in the transmission fluid were what was giving it enough friction to make the shifts, by changing out the fluid you removed all the particles and now the transmission slips and won't shift into certain gears. Just a guess given the information you have provided. I would look at the transmission for the issue.
