My wife bought a 95 Ford Explorer and the power driver seat won't move back and forth. Everything else works fine with the seat (power wise), but it just won't move back and forth. Once in a blue moon it will work though. Am trying to figure out how to take out the power panel to see if it might be the issue.

sounds like a bad fuse, have a look at your manual and see which fuse controls those parts, they are most likely on the same fuse, the fuse box may also say which fuse is for what, If the fuse in the first box doesn't fix it, try a new fuse in the box under the hood, let me know how this goes, you may also have corrosion in a wire but check the fuses first.

Just picking at you. It would have to be a bad switch. Forward and back are on the same circuit switch just reverses the power and ground to the motor.

most of the time this is switch problems, again with the ohm/volt meters and wiring diagrams. check for power entering and all the grounds. best i can do for you.
"the only thing that makes a good tech is the directions he follows"
buy a repair manual, these have the wiring diagrams in them and easy to follow.

the switch has failed or a combination of the switch and motor. the switch will be the easiest to replaace as you will have to remove and on some vehicle partially disassemble the seat to do the motor. The switch os mounted on the plastic panel which is held to the seat usually by 2 - 4 screws.

Check the voltage from the cpu,if there is none, replace the cpu again.Hold seat to foward for 12 seconds then release, wait 20 seconds, see if it will reset. If not replace the cpu
