The courtesy light on the bottom of the driver side door and all of the individual map lights do not come on automatically when I open the driver side door. The courtesy light on the bottom of the passenger side door and all of the individual map lights do come on automatically when I open any of the other doors. The light control switch on the dashboard is in the Door Activated position. This is a 2003 Honda Pilot. This doesn't seem like a fuse problem. Any suggestions?
The driver's door has a switch which tells the multiplexer control unit that the door is open and the control unit then switches on the lights. It sounds like the switch is not making contact when the driver's door is open. The lights work and the other door switches work--so it isn't a fuse or multiplexer problem.
Its a single bolt that holds it in. Use an 8mm hex socket and pull out the bolt. Lift the switch slightly up and then pull straight out. disconnect the wire. Reverse steps to replace. the switch has a rubber boot surrounding it that is easily removed for inspection once the switch has been taken out. you can try to spray some electrical contact cleaner on the sliding switch contacts to see if cleaning it will help. You can also see if the switch itself is intact or damaged. Total time with the right tools--less than 5 minutes.

Thanks telemachus. What's involved with fixing the switch on the driver side door?
