There is this 2000 dodge intrepid that has a blown head gasket

I would like to buy this car because i need something bigger. But it has a blown head gasket. At least thats what the advertisement said. It has 100,000 miles on it and in good condition. How much would a new head gasket cost for this car.

It has been My Experience that Most Repairs on this Vehicle ARE PRICEY and it is Not Worth the Maintnance Cost For Instance To Replace the STARTER One Must Remove the Engine Mount This tacks On an Axtra 80 Dollars to Lobor To Replace The Engine Labor ALONE is Around 1,500.00 Cmopared to 6-8 Hundred on Most other Makes & Modles I Personaly Would NOT own One.

I have the starting of a blown head gasket on a 2000 dodge intrepid. I was wondering does the steel seal stuff that is advertised really work? would really like to know before spending my hard earned...

It all depends on where the leak is and how bad. It could work but it also could not. Either way this would be almost a 100% temporary fix. I would either get it fixed right away or trade/sell the car. A head gasket replacement as long as the heads are good would run 800-1000$ at a reputable shop.'
Thank you,
Lee

Where is the heater core located and where is the thermostat located on 2000 intrepid? can i change these myself? is it easy or difficult?

replace the thermsostat, if that doesn't solve the problem you have a blown head gasket, it sounds like combustion gases are getting in the cooling system.

How often should I bleed air from the cooling system?

check your oil and make sure you dont ahve a blown head gasket and that your thermostat is good (throw it in boiling water and see if it opens), and if you are losing water/coolant with no drips or puddles than it may be leaking in a cylinder which means bad head gasket as well

2000 r/t intrepid running hot new radiator thermostate and water pump

Sorry you have a blowing head gasket I have a Grand Am with the same problems and found out is was the head gasket. Get the car to the shop and have them perform a pressure test on the radiator and they can tell you if you have a blow head gasket failure also call intake gasket.

Ran over something on the freeway

it sounds like you may have cracked a head, blown a head gasket since their is antifreeze coming from the muffler i would take it to a local shop and have it checked out

I have a 98 dodge intripid. The mechcanic said it has a blown head gasket. He said it would be cheaper to just get another engine. Can anyone tell me what it would cost to replace gaskets. I checked on new...

Problem is once the heads are off you need to have them checka nd probably planed and rebuilt. If the heads are also cracked than you will buy heads. In my area a head gasket job costs around 2-2500$ if it is a v6 15-1800$ for 4 banger. USed engine is a possibility but you can get a bum engine. I vote for sending to machine shop and having rebuilt. Other option is finding an already rebuilt engine and dropping in.
If minor leak you can try alumaseal. Awesome stuff. Is a fine aluminum powder taht fixes small leaks. Major blowouts can't be fixed by alumaseal.
