it is the heater blend door.....you can buy the piece off ebay for around 30.00 dollars the dealer can charge upwards of 800 dollars to fix because they take the steering column and dash apart...you can go through the glove box and cut a whole into ac system and access the blend door. old one slides out new one slides in this is farely easy and takes less than an hour
Jeep Grand Cherokee is notorious for broken blend-air doors. This is the door inside the A/C-heater housing that switches the air from hot to cold. You must remove the dash to repair it.
The blower might be bad its located under the passenger side dash board you can get them for around 40 bucks on line or a parts store its just 4 blots and a wire.
I had this problem on a 99 grand cherokee limited, It was the heater blend doors and if you have dual climate control one side usually goes out before the other. These blend doors are located behind the glove box unaccessible inside the HVAC shell. (http://www.wjjeeps.com/hvac_sub_assembly.htm) Motor failures for this HVAC sub assemblies is also something to look for although much less common. My local dealership estimated $$$$$$$$$950.00 because they have to remove the entire dash so I looked around for something else. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Blen-Dor-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Blend-Door-Heater-Repair_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3eef1e1cd6QQitemZ270299700438QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
I used something similar to this and now have heat that is controlled solely by the knob nearest the driver. It wasn't very difficult just kind of a tight squeeze. Hope this helps GOOD LUCK
the blower is under dash buy glove box. remove electrcal connector, then remove the screws that hold it in, then pull it out. you can buy a replcement blower at any auto parts store. use old fan cage to put on new motor shaft.
The blower problem on your jeep needs proper diagnosis. This could be one of several problems. As simple as a relay or as big as a blower motor. With automatic temperature control you could be looking at a control assembly.
the cold air on the passenger side is a passenger blend door problem. Could be the actuator or a broken door. This problem requires removal of the entire dash to get to the problem. Not something you want to tackle without a complete step by step set of instructions.
I do have one other suggestion for this problem. You will still have to get the blower problem to complete the repair. Copy this link and go see what you think about blend door repair.
If you have Automatic Temperture Control then you will need a blower resistor module which could be around $100 to $200. If you have a manual temperture control then it can be just a simple $20 blower resistor.
