SOURCE: When driving, heater blows warm air. When idling, cold air.

It sounds to me like you have a plugged heater core, or one that is beginning to plug. With the engine running, carefully feel the two hoses that lead from the engine into the heater core in the firewall. If one of those hoses is colder than the other one then you heater core needs to be replaced. This involves removing a bunch of stuff under the dash. Sometimes it's pretty easy and sometimes not. Start by removing the glove box and you should be able to see the plastic housing for the heater core.

I changed thermostat and water pump had good heat for three miles and then went cold can mess with it and get it to come back and then goes cold in 3 miles

Check the heater hoses to see if they are still hot when the air goes cold. If the hose are hot it is not a cooling system problem but a temperature blend door problem. If the hoses have a different feel to them, one hot and one cold or warm, it is a circulation problem and the coolant is not moving through the heater core fast enough to keep the air hot out of the vents. This usually ends up being a clogged heater core.

Heater and ac controlls not working 1994 corvette

Are all the vents working? Does your Cruise Control work (properly) it may work and shut off. If your vents are working is only hot air or cold air coming thru, or just your defroster vent?

You have a 3 way check valve under fuel rail guard on passengers side, its a pastic barrel shape thing it rots and creates holes in it causing your ac vents and cruise control to malfunction.

next your heater control unit if you have the one with a slider to regulate the hot or cold temperature breaks easily inside unit, its only plastic. Its an arm inside unit to control the temp in car it slides a door open or closed for heat. If you look where he slider enters thru that hole space you will see a post it sits on to open and close .

Sounds like the Coolant is not full and has a air bubble. It is very important to have the system filled complete. That would be the first step.Good luck and have a great day.

Problem with the heating in Daewoo Lanos

A couple of things..First, if you are having to top off coolant levels "every so often", this indicates that you are loosing coolant. That in itself could be a seperate issue, not necessarily related to your heat, so keep an eye on that, it should be addressed. Secondly, it sounds like either the coolant being circulated in your heater core is not reaching the proper temperature, or there is a blend door that is not properly functioning, allowing cooler air to be blended with your heated air before coming out of the vent. If its the heated coolant causing the problem, there are 2 things to check. #1 make sure the car is reaching the proper operating temperature. You can check your guage, or have a mechanic check the temp. If it is not reaching the correct operating temperature, you will likely have to change your thermostat to correct. #2 you have a valve that allows the coolant to circulate thru the heater core, if it is not opening all the way, this could be the source of the problem. This valve is either in the engine compartment on the inlet hose to your heater core, (near the firewall), or on the inside of the fire wall...may have to stand on your head under the dash. This valve is typically operated by a cable that attaches to the valve and the other end goes to your temperature control lever. Good Luck, hope this is helpful.
