Low oilpreasure light comes on but i put more than requierd

? it only took a quart of oil to read to the full line, or it only showed a quart low on stick ? the difference is , the stick only shows 1 quart low , no matter how low it really is , im of the suspicion that engine was much lower than 1 quart , and running engine low on oil will damage it 4 sure , slapping noise will need to be determine by qualified tech

4 quarts means that youve got one serious leak and your slicking up the roads for every body... you should get out some tools and see what you can snug up to slow the leak, as for the light, your driving a cheap vehicle so what do you expect ?

Can't give you an exact number but I can tell you how to find out. I will asume that you are changing you oil and filter? After putting the oil plug and filter on put three quarts of oil in and start engine; after oil light goes off, turn engine off and let set for about 5 minutes, then check oil; if it is not on the low mark of dip stick add another quart, start engine, stop engine, let set for a couple of minutes and check again. By now you should either be at or above the low line and just add enough oil to top it off at the full line. I would guess that about 4 1/2 to 5 quarts is what you will need. Hope this helps,

first I would put in the proper amount of oil, once you are sure the level is full and if the light still comes on, pull the wire from the oil pressure sending unit, the light should go off with key on, if the light goes off then the sensor is bad. replace sensor

put in 3.5 quarts of oil and before you start the car check the oil level on the dip stick.it should be about half a quart above the full line on the dip stick(upper line) i assume you are changing your own oil and filter.start car let it run a little while shut car off let it stand and recheck oil level.it should be at the full mark.if low put in rest of the last quart of oil.recheck.most cars hold 4 quarts.

you need to chek your oil!these codes are for incorrect intake valve timing operation on both cylinder banks.the system is hydraulically operated by engine oil and oil pressure.in almost every case i have encountered when both codes have set it has been due to either low oil level or low oil pressure.having both control solenoids fail is possible but rare.im betting your oil is at least two and a half quarts low.

if it is a gas engine it should use 5 quarts, unless it has a heavy duty oil cooling system, then it may need up to seven quarts. Fill the motor with the first five quarts, the check the oil level with the oil dipstick. If its still low add one half of a quart at a time while checking level each time you add a half quar untill it show full on the oil dipstick..

With a filter change along with the changing of oil. I would start with four quarts, than start the engine let it run for a second. After that turn it of check the oil, and top off as necessary. Roughly guessing I would say it holds about 4 1/4 quarts. Or could take up to five, its safe to start engine after four quarts. BE SURE to start engine after four quarts for 10-20 seconds, and then turn off to recheck. Too much oil can be catastrophic. (if no oil is showing on the dipstick than it is more than one quart low. The lowest point on dipstick represents one quart low, the middle is half a quart, and full is full) :)

Most vehicles when changing oil uses 5 quarts of oil. I believe that is any vehicle even trucks after you have drained the old oil out of it and is changing your oil. It should last a good 5 months but it is best to change your oil about every 3 months. that is what we do around here and we have 4 vehicles

Yikes! You say there was no oil, did the 1 and 1/2 quarts bring it up to the full mark? If it did, you still had about 2 and 1/2 quarts in the engine. This was certainly bad for the motor if it was making noises and stalling. If it sounds and runs well now, you may have dodged the bullet, however, the engine took a beating from being run low or dry. You may be able to reset the check engine light by just removing the negative battery cable for about 10 minutes, hook it back up, the light should reset. If it comes back on, have it checked (parts stores will check for free) to see what is going on that causes it to go on.
