I already checked my power steering fluid and it's still full, my car only sat for a day with no battery and alternator.
Maybe you put the fan belt on wrong.
I wondering if you tensioned the belt correctly and does the same belt drive both units, Have you reconnected the little wires into the back of the alternator as well as the heavy wire
Well I adjusted the belt tension and yes that did fix the power steering problem so thanks!!! But the battery light is still on. I did reconnect all of the cables and had the batter charged after the alternator went out and was told that everything went well with the recharge.
Had to replace the number 2 fuse in the engine fuse box also when i replaced mine

CAUTION
Never attempt to remove the alternator or disconnect any wires to the alternator without first disconnecting the battery negative cable.
To reinstall the alternator, reverse the removal procedure.
To adjust the belt tension, leave the pivot and adjusting arms loose. Look up the belt tension specification for the vehicle you are working on. Using a belt tension gauge on the belt apply pressure to the alternator until the correct belt tension registers on the gauge and tighten the mounting and adjustment bolts to the specified torque specification.

To remove the alternator, you have to remove the serpentine belt. They have a tensioner in which you place a socket wrench and pull on it and it loosens the belt. Before removing the belt notice how it is routed. Some vehicles have a diagram on the hood or on the front near the grill.You take the belt off. Then you remove the alternator by removing the bolts attaching the alternator to the engine. There are two or three bolts you have to remove. Two of them are fairly big bolts. About a size 14 metric or so. Disconnect the negative battery cable battery so you won't hit any grounds.Then take off the plugs from the alternator and the small nuts that hold the wires. Notice how they are placed before removing so you can know where each plug goes.Then replace the new alternator. Plug it back up and install the same way you took it out.Replace the belt starting from the left to right and pull on the tensioner and reinstall.

Don't listen to that guy!!!! you need to take the plastic cover behind the steering wheel. there are two bolts holding the air bag in t30 (torx) then the air bag falls right off. then the steering wheel is held in by a 15 mm head bolt.
Warning: make sure battery is disconnected for at least 30 min before you mess with the air bag connector

Your alternator isn't putting 14 volts out to the battery. Check the stator wire on the alternator and the 3 wire plug make sure there is no gap on any of the alternator connectors and they are on VERY firm!
Hook up a multimeter inside your car and watch the battery voltage! if under 14volt you got an alternator problem!
