2005 Chevy Avalanche Transmission Problem

I bought this 2005 Avalanche Sept.29th 2005 (brand new) & I have around 47200 miles on it & have not had any transmission problem with it before yesterday...when I put it in drive & normally start driving & the transmission starts shiffting gears, it shiffs from 1st to 2nd just find but as the speed increases & it wants to shiff from 2nd to 3rd it doesn't ever shiff, its like it goes into neutral, the engine speeds up like its in neutral, I called roadside assisstance & got a wrecker to haul it home, its ok in reverse & forward as long as it doesn't have to shiff into 3rd gear..of course Mfg. warranty is out & I was in the process of buying an extended warranty but even if I proceed in buying said exteneded warranty it won't cover this incident.......

Transmission just started acting up.  Shifts fine up to about 30mph then won't shift into high gear.  Stays about 3000 rpm because  and won't ever shift.  Transmission fluid is fine.

I had the same problem, its the torque converter. I took my 05 c/a in because i was having shifting problem, the long and short of it is there is a breather on the tranmission that sucks in water from the road. the water and the atf dont mix. the dealer put in a torque converter and changed the fluid and installed a redesigned transmission breather.

How many gear shifts solenoids on a 2005 Chevy Avalanche

The 2005 Chevy Avalanche is available with different transmission and shift options, which can affect the number of transmission shift solenoids present.

However, generally, the 4-speed automatic transmission (4L60E) used in the 2005 Chevy Avalanche typically has a total of 7 transmission shift solenoids. These solenoids are used to control the activation and deactivation of the transmission's clutches and valves, allowing the vehicle to shift gears smoothly and seamlessly.

It's important to note that the number of transmission shift solenoids may vary depending on the year, model, and configuration of the Chevy Avalanche.

2006 Sebring Convertible - Transmission Codes - P0700, P0720, & P0731....
2006 Sebring Convertible, started while driving around town - transmission did not want to shift and CEL came on. Stopped, checked transmission fluid and looked for anything obvious. All fluids good, nothing obvious. About 5 miles from home, drove back roughly 15-20 mph. Only other issue that had came to mind was the alternator had been making a whining noise for some time, probably 3 months or so - had mentioned to wife that we should replace it before it completely failed. Found one reference on the internet that the alternator could cause weird electrical conditions / interference if bad - leaking voltage back through ground. Thinking the alternator likely needed replacing anyway, I replaced it and cleared codes - all issues were solved - no more alternator whining and all transmission issues resolved. Replaced alternator on Sept 9, 2019 today is Sept 12, 2021 and still going - I think its safe to say the alternator was the culprit in this instance.
